Bloody injury curse keeps whacking us though. We keep hoping we can get close to our full team out on the park but another 3 go down tonight. WTF?

According to reports, "Latrell Mitchell moved to five-eighth, with Tallis Duncan taking his place at left centre.

The Rabbitohs lost Ravalawa just nine minutes into the second half forcing a further reshuffle, with Jack Wighton shifting to the wing and forward Jai Arrow moving to right centre.

The changes left Souths with just one interchange for the last 30 minutes of the match."

You wouldn't expect to win a match with those changes, and yet we are 4-1 to start the season. That's amazing.

One of those classic derby games, maybe without the usual marquee on both sides, but certainly pretty willing in the heart stakes.

It wasn’t pretty marquee footy, but it’s not a pretty or silky kind of season so far.

Someone on another thread said he was missing quality footy from all the sides, but I’m kind of enjoying it.

Greys game got him pretty much into origin contention I thought. He was everywhere and remained safe and sturdy. His speed off the mark, he is well above standard. He’s a strike fullback in a traditional sense. He was likened to Dylan Edwards. I think he’s faster and tough.

The plan for the first half was to get as much Lats into the game down that that left edge. They’d planned for it and you weren’t breaking through. I thought after about 20 minutes I would have tried something else. Bennett didn’t quite go with my plan and Lats did more with the ball than I expected. He had a few errors, but he’s just come back.

Some idiots were having a go at his miracle pass calling it forward. No, it was simply the best pass thrown so far this year. I’ll have to slow the play down later, because I want to see it if was planned in terms of a Bennet instruction.

I was pleased to see Sullivan have a go. He has his issues, but he also has some strengths.

There were also a lot of other hero’s.

The roosters don’t have your roster ( well before the injuries anyway) and they played pretty well for a side re-building.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed the Barney between their fullback and Lats. There was a bit going on there.

Now Lats has to keep his head down this year because we can all see what he is capable of doing if he’s on the park.simply put, the most dominant player out there except for Grey maybe. He usually lasts a three or four games before the bad stuff gets into his head. Hopefully he’s fixed that.

Some recognition to the roosters marking Lats and Tass. Dom in particular. He’s not a bad player.

I didn’t catch his name, but number 17 was fighting hard. My mate your hooker, started well. He looked very committed.

It was a frustrating match, pocketed with some great footy. To settle the match once for all with a glamour play, fixed up a lot of the anxiety for both teams.

Defending against a pass like that, it’s near impossible, regardless of foe. And superbly caught and finished off. Quite a few things had to go right lol. It’s critical he stays on field.

The team song is on the Facebook, it was absolute chaos in the change room afterwards.

The players sure looked like they really enjoyed that win.

The miracle pass, I’m working it out. Dom left his wing for the intercept but the pass was too fast.

Interestingly, other than that, the roosters were positioned well for a stout and effective defence.

Arrow said after the game, Lats was given more latitude to be creative despite being in the centres. So instead of the more mechanical role I envisaged ( and how Robbo used to use him) he was allowed to let some of his creative juices flow.

Then he doubles down.

Shout out to Bud, still a wests tiger on loan for a superb step, dummy, some speed and sleight of hand perfecto pass to Jai.

And make no mistake, you wouldn’t have won without his critical involvement. It was smart eyes up footy.

Half the team wiped out, a grind and some class.

And Ray Martin has a thing on Facebook about Wayne Bennet not fretting about players out privately but accepting the loss and getting on with it.

I think most coaches do that.

The whole crowd was going off it was brilliant in that last 10mins what an atmosphere so many including myself jumping up down shouting and chanting hugging and falling over one another and cheering like we’d won the Grand Final or close to it!

The guy I’ve sat next to at games for about 15 years spilt his whole beer down me I didn’t care we were delirious I won’t forgot that win in a long time. Still struggling voice wise today but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Many including me had tears in our eyes it was phenomenal

No that's the greatness of BURT!! I would have signed the man on an endless contract. Its akin to Countess Dracula. Whilst she sucks the blood of young virgins she remains hot but when the supply dries up she becomes an awful, decrepit witch. Burt leaves, we are doomed!

Who c
I'm happy to call Latrells pass forward (it wasn't) but Teddy's pass to Billy Smith was practically an NFL pass. I cannot believe that wasn't called forward.
Who cares about forward or no? Easts had their chances, we had virtually no players left. We were already absent several key players and ended up with Duncan-Arrow as the centre pairing for the last 20 mins or more. Personally I was stunned, nay shocked about winning that one more than anything previously. Burt did win 6 years ago with I believe Turner [rest his poor soul] and Lowe as the starting centres. But realistically given the hype associated with this type of match up and the gutting of the squad at the half, this was freaky, totally freaky.
