We need to decide what we do with Goolagong--he's definitely not a 5/8---he probably should be considered a winger the way he's going---should Graham play centre--if so,Wighton takes the other centre spot---it's looking like we drop our best player,GRAY, to the bench so Goolagong can play FB---Walker is looking tired to me,he's not performing well---I reckon Gray should be given a go at 5/8;he has a history in that posse---maybe Walker on the bench ---losing Humphries has really buggered things for us !!!

It was one of several rubbish plays by a player that knows better.

Look, we've seen Mitchell long enough at FB.
He is not a FB.

There is no point putting him back there, because we will just see the same things that we are criticizing him for - not running with the ball, getting into dummy half, passing the ball off to a winger to do the hard yards etc etc.

He has to play L Centre and that's it.

At least there, he can make an impact for the team. That position dictates that he has to run onto the ball, run with the ball, and make tackles on guys in front of him - he avoids tackling at 5/8, and is not good enough or positionally aware enough to be the last line of defense.

For the moment, I don't mind Campbell on the wing for a few more games, it helps him to get his match fitness up again, he's not getting smashed by edge forwards, or middles running wide. But ultimately he needs to return to R Centre.

So they should be the starting points. From there, you work out who plays where - Jye Gray at FB, and Wighton at 5/8, or vice versa. And then, the big question is where does Cody play? And when Humphreys comes back, what happens with that combination?

It's a problem, and a headache, because I don't think Cody would tolerate being made a 14, and the Dodd & Wighton buys are looking to be panic buys and a big waste of money. There seems to be a few too many square pegs being made to fit into round holes.

And one more thing, from what I saw of Melbourne, and the way the Dolphins dismantled their right edge, particularly their R centre, if we are any chance at beating them, that's where we need to attack, and that starts with Mitchell being put at L Centre and going at their right edge. They won't be able to handle him if he plays what he is capable of at that position.

His official name from birth was Latrell GOOLAGONG---his mother was a Goolagong & his Dad a Mitchell--his great aunt is Evonne Goolagong---Latrell & Shaq changed their name to Mitchell in their teens !!
I'm aware they're related mate. I'm quizzing why you choose to refer to him as that in this instance? He is nowadays a Mitchell so ....

I agree with earlier comments about Keaon too. I am also frustrated by his skip and pause as he runs into the line like many other fans. I think he uses the skip to load up power and bump into the defence but it's not exactly a winning tactic.

So, with Hubby out for next week with Cat 1 symptoms, I would love to see Wayne stick Keaon in the 13 with the hope it ignites his form the way it did last year. Aitken is ready to slip into that edge role by now.

Hoping AJ is back again - not sure how long this time for him - heard almost nothing. But we need him back on the left outside Latrell, Campbell back to right centre with Myers perhaps outside him as Tass has been very poor of late and needs a spell in reggies. And I think it's time to give Jack a run at 5/8 with Cody and Dodd sharing the 7 role while Humph is out. Cody didn't look fully fit to me yesterday or was it father time holding him back?

My side for next week - Gray, AJ?, Trell, CG, Myers, Wighton, Cody, Keppie, Mamo, Tats, Arrow, Aitken, Keaon - bench - Tallis, Havili, Moale, Dodd.

I'm thinking maybe Latrell and Jye swap round when we are on the attack in the opposition 20-30 metre zone but Jye then goes back to the back when it comes time to field kicks and run it back. We do need Latrell's ball playing when we are on the attack. That's his main attribute these days more than his running game. Wonder if Wayne would consider having them switch round back and forth during games?

In attack at the moment trell seems to spend 5 tackles getting into position for a kick

Which has been hit and miss. Happy for him to be a back up kicker but since humph has been missing, he's been lumped with that job - until the 2nd half when he was sent out to left centre and Jack took over at 5/8. We need more from Latrell doing what he does best which is ball playing.

I honestly believe codys time is finished, old man lower leg injurys are plaguing him and he just isnt energetic enough, we should bite the bullet and put grey at 6
It's starting to look that way although I will give him a chance to show it wasn't just extra fatigue from recovering from the hammy (where you lose some conditioning being layed off) - plus the fact it was a very fatiguing game for our boys the way it panned out.

But that's the succession plan - to ease Jye into his junior position of 6. Not sure that time is just yet though but it may come sooner than we think. Cody has to respond and find his best.

It would be real nice for the boys to get out of the heat and start playing more night games too. More travel next week down to bleak city but at least it will be a night game. The Storm always kill it for the big Anzac Day game and might be a tad extra motivated to settle their coach down after copping some flak during the week you would think.

Lucky us.

He's been their best every single game this season.
How can he be dropped?
Put Mitchell at centre, at least there, he will run with the ball, or run and set up the winger.
And he can't get into dummy half either.
He seems to find a way though, doesn't he.
I watched Havilli do the same thing, received a line drop out at the halfway line, tottered forward trying to find someone else to take it up. Thinks he's first receiver ball playing forward who don't like being tackled.
What a football team.
