Fittler is Fittler, LKT is not.
Yep, Fittler was a one off. A whiz kid that had many other first grade footy players in the Parramatta/Penrith areas getting plenty of squizzes at him playing and saying when he was just starting out that he would be a wonder kid. He had so much talent and ability and we saw what he did as a grown up.

These type of players are once in a lifetime ones just born to be great.

For those that haven't seen it there's a shorts video from the Facebook crew called "The Climb". Awesome stuff.

Also, if someone could copy the link, that would be great.

Trying to make a case for Doueihi and Ilias.
When Doueihi was fully fit and firing he was a standout in a team that was performing very poorly.
With Ilias he has played under coaches who were sacked because a strong roster team performed well under expectations just about every week. When this happens the half back more often than not cops the blame. In Flanno’s first year proved a lot of doubters wrong by getting the best out individuals and the team as a whole. Flanno maybe able to get the best out of Ilias and elevate him to the potential everyone at Souths thought he had 2 years ago. Also Cookie thinks highly of him.

I dont think Douieh is on our list any more.. he was clearly going to be our #30, then all of a sudden Flanno said he wanted to keep the #30 spot open for last minute opportunistic signings in 2025.

And I assume we will get only 1 of Ilias or Atkinson for 2025... we do however really need an extra guy to cover halves injuries (which would have been Douieh), so im not exactly sure what Flannos masterplan is yet.

Let's assume for a minute that we gave 28 signed players.
As you state, Flanno would like to keep #30 open, yet we need a half and a prop.
I'm guessing, the squad numbers are reliant on what type of contract Eisenhuth has signed. If not a top 30 then it makes sense to hold off on spot #30.
So, hypothetically, we could look to sign Ilias for '25 and a forward from the ashes of whoever signs Hunt. If we can jag Atkinson, for '26, he could agitate for an early release, could this be the reason to hold #30?
The path to signing Douehi seems to have dried up, or is it a smokescreen?

Douehi would be a very astute addition.
+ Cheap
+ Quick
+ Big body
+ Ultra competitive
+ Excellent utility value (can play most possies)
+ Burtonesque type kicking ( big boot on him)
+ Good short kicking game
+ Definitely a Flanno style player

It’s a yes from me. Hunt and Bird were not flashy players but were competitive types. Lomax too, very involved and physical.

This is why I like Gutherson and Cook signings. They take on the game. While Ilias looks a stop gap measure for 7, I can still make room for Douehli in halves or as utility, as he brings experience and a doggedness we will have to pride ourselves on to win games. We will need depth and he is an upgrade on Mbye from a few years back.

I found it interesting that AD completed a medical with us as well. He's still contracted for '25 (as is Ilias), but there's no chatter on whether the Tigers are willing to chip in or not.

My guess is that there seems to be no forwards on the market that would suit our objective at present, and we don't won't to sign someone for the sake of it. Therefore, Ilias will get the gig as our 7, as that's the immediate need. It wouldn't surprise me if we held spot #30 open until we are forced to use it.

I'm still bemused as to what type of contract TE has signed, which leads us to whether we have 3 spots or 2. The BMM signing as an extended squad player, sort of leads me to think TE may have followed suit, but I'm 100% guessing here. If TE has signed an ES contract, it would make sense to sign both LI and AD and keep spot 30 for whatever happens or is shaken out at a later date. Alternatively, we may have a forward in mind, and will revisit AD, once the Tigers are deep into paying his '25 salary, which would be win/win for us either way.
