Does anyone know what the ratings was for 2015 GF? That last 5 minutes was something out of this planet, even if you had to rehears it you would never get it that perfect. It was mind blowing, and one of the best finish to a GF ever!

I’m aware that last time a similar question was asked, a very tedious link was made between other football codes having some affect on the media rights deal and ratings of the NRL. What does the ratings of a sport not in direct competition with the NRL playing in the off-season have to do with “NRL media watch” (the name of the forum this thread is in)?
This thread has become a catch all for Australian sport (and overseas rugby league) and the thread title reflects that. It keeps the discussion going along and a lot of us are just data nerds who like following numbers for different sports.

Id also argue it’s debatable that we’re not in competition with cricket, we’re all competing for the same TV money.

If you only care about NRL ratings I’m not sure why you’re bothering to browse this thread now anyway, just come back in March.

The thread shouldn’t be in the “NRL media watch” forum or “Rugby League - Australia” forum then.

So how do we know how rugby league ratings compare to rivals and if our tv deal is unders or not

Close eyes and hope for the best

We only have one competitor at the end of the day … what cricket is rating in the offseason in the middle of summer is pretty irrelevant I would have thought…

The NRL deal discussion is I believe mostly in another thread. You should know this, being the great arbiter of thread content that you are
This sub thread is “NRL media watch”. The reason given previously for posting ratings from other sporting competitions or sports is to be able to judge if the NRL media rights deal is a good one or not. My point, before you’ve attempted to misdirect it (which I won’t have any of), is the ratings of this sport won’t have any affect on the NRL media rights deal.

the subsection is. This is a thread contained within that subsection, and Ive always felt that ratings of other sports help frame the sports tv ratings conversation relative to the NRL.

If there was widespread disapproval of this from other forum members who follow the thread, or an actual mod instruction, Id stop, but there wasnt and isnt...so here we are.. You dont actually have to read the thread you know.

There has been quite enough discussion now of what thread belongs where. Further discussion on that and trying to dictate where content goes will be removed.

It's fair to say that this thread has become a data catch-all for TV ratings sports discussion - mainly focused on RL but inclusive of other sports - as long as it remains on topic. Billythekid's assessment below captures it well.

On with the ratings discussion!

How does that compare with previous results? Doesn’t seem terrible for AFLW but not all that amazing either. I do like the idea of giving the womens game more space by itself away from the mens but the challenge is keeping it in the public eye. You’d hardly know the AFLW was still going.

Less than a third of the NRLW GF audience.

The second NRLW PF beat it too.

I kind of like the idea of NRLW operating in the off season as we will reach a point where there is good interest, crowds and ratings. October to Feb would be a decent NRLW season and not overlap with NRL.

The main problem is the heat!! It would have to be played at night with something like quarters.
