2025

The Roosters are farked because they have gone all in on Sam Walker.

He can't tackle and doesnt have the mentality to play set for set. He wants points off every touch.

They were more disciplined with a rookie manufactured halfback.

Add in Rugby Mark and Spencer you have a team that is all show no go.
And if they get a player that is a little bit "square peg" and doesn't quite fit the Roosters "round hole", they move them on pretty quickly. Like May, Young and Cheese Smith.

A couple of results probably didn’t go our way this weekend.

The Sea Eagles upsetting the Storm keeps them in the hunt for a top 8 spot would have much preferred the Storm to beat them and put them two points further behind us but not to be.

Likewise the side in most danger of potentially dropping out of the top four the Warriors won at the death.

So realistically the top four is locked in and we are competing for fifth or sixth position.

So we need to keep winning cannot afford any slip ups. Best team fit and available needs to be selected.

The Panthers have won six on the trot, haven’t allowed 20 points in any of those games and have conceded just 68 points – the fewest by any team in that period.

As poorly as Penrith started the season, only three teams have conceded fewer points than the Panthers who suddenly look exactly like the side that has dominated the NRL for years.

---

Plenty of player quotes to read but those stats are what caught my eye. We are still warming into 2025 too.

Our best football is yet to come.

Love to see it but need to play the storm to see where it's really at.

Wild that we are the equal 4th best defensive side given we were leaking 30 odd a game for a while there. Fair bet we will be outright 3rd after the weekend. Average is a tick under 20 a game, which is still rubbish, so probably more a reflection on other teams being bad at tackling than us being great. Still a great turnaround.

We lost Cleary and ran our 6 and 7 had training wheels connected. They should have pumped us in reality.

Its also the game that saw BS become a mandatory pick in the 14. Dominating approximately 65%-70% discussion on this forum. In hindsight we probably should have a created a BS appreciation thread.

Storm will likely make a prelim but i dont see them in the GF - they are very beatable - it wouldnt bother me if we lost against them in a months time - look how that worked out for them in 2024.

Storm are dare i say inconsistent in 2025 - they aren't the fearful Storm the media are making them out to be

they just got home against us (it should have been 20+ win for them)
Dragons beat them the following week
got a lead against the dolphins early and then the dolphins put 40 on them
Raiders got them late in Magic Round
Sharks covered Storm at Cronulla
Storm just get home in golden point against Souths
Manly beat Storm in Melbourne on old boys day

Storm are nothing on their 2024 side - wouldn't surprise me if Storm went out in straight sets this year given the results we've seen so far

Interesting. I think the Raiders are a great chance to go in straight sets, they could easily get Melbourne then us. I don't think their fun attacking footy will hold up to finals style refereeing.

I still maintain we win 1/3 when we hit our big test (Storm, Raiders and Dogs). 2/3 at best.

Its quite likely we will be at 9 wins straight when that starts and at some point we have to drop a game. Better it happens before the finals.

Storm I think a W as we lost to them in round 3. Grand final rematch at Commbank. Think we need to show our all there.

Then maybe we go a bit flat in Mudgee and the Raiders get a W. Or maybe we hold it together and win. Either way media starts throwing speculative questions about how far we can go.

Dogs game I'm expecting an L. They would be filthy to lose the last encounter and will play their grand final in that match. Should be a bumper crowd.

All in the crystal ball. Someone go see a clairvoyant to confirm.
