Oil money owns 2 of the biggest clubs in the world (among many others) and FIFA now routinely host World Cups in footballing shitholes. Theres no reasonable way you can argue oil money has had no effect on the sport.
I meant the shitty leagues in those countries. Basically the Super League of soccer, washed up old men cashing in

Balance. Always good to pair kids with older halves where possible
Totally agree.

3 years back Jack Cole was the future. Boom or bust and he got bust. Good occasionally, but never really grabbed any attention in what I've seen.
Probably in that area of a bit better than reserve grade but just not consistent enough for first grade.

Kurt Falls is probably in the same boat but rock steady in his level of consistency which will be reserve grade, plus he kicks goals.

Someone said we have 3 young halves coming through, well I've seen a thousand young halves get to 20 years old and disappear so having a near 30 year old consistent half to steer the young fella's around can't be a bad thing.

Welcome back Kurt, I hope he gets the contract he deserves.

Yeah i did a google search on oil money on soccer, its seems there is a lot and its having a huge impact. I dont know if you are also including russian oil money in this comment also, but there is a lot of that. It would be fair to say that reckless spending billionaires have been dramatically changing the landscape of some of the worlds biggest sporting leagues for decades.

Anyway I see Chins talking about the home leagues for these billionaires, but why in a sport like soccer when you can go out and buy world cups and franchises in the biggest leagues would you invest hundreds of millions or billions into building a whole new league in a country that probably doesnt want to much attention on what is actually happening within their boarders.

I was quite vocal in wanting him here last year.. anyway I happy with what the club has done.. in other news didn't know Kurt Falls was back at the club trialling .. I'll get some slack over this but I rate him better than Jack Cole
I love Kurt, as a bloke and player, but his defence just isn’t good enough for NRL. Has excellent footy IQ though, definitely better than Coles. Cole is just a much better defender.

Yeah i like Kurt but surely hes struggling to make the cup side. The bigger bench may help him i guess.

I dont think Cole has enough skills to be a half. I think he could be a 14 at a weaker club
I don't think he has what it takes to be an nrl player in general. I could see i world where he goes to England and turns into a bevan French or jai field over there but I don't know if he'll ever be great here. But I would like him to prove me wrong

I think you two are being harsh. Think Jack has been great in his limited games.

this season is now or never for Cole

he was a starter at the beginning of last season and Blaize took his 6 jumper and hasnt relinquished it since

he hasnt been picked in the 14 jersey & we've all had opinions for years about that jersey/role

this is it for Jack - and i think he fails again unfortunately

Calling cole a failure after those 6 games is ridiculous imo. I dont know why people are so down on Jack. Judging him solely on those games at start of last year is silly, are we judging any other players from the team solely on those games? It wasnt his fault he came into the team when we played our worst in years. We had numerous rep players looking like absolute bums during that period.

Cole actually had a very good year in cup if you watched him play there.
