Australian Rules football introduced the concept in the 1970s. It was later copied by Rugby League. So saying AFL Origin is somehow fake or inferior is somewhat disingenuous.

Rugby League invented the state of origin concept at the end of WWII , when will you fumblers stop lying about this ?

Broncos v Storm is the perfect combination ratings wise. If we get an all NSW decider like Panthers v Roosters this year ratings will be way down.

I didn't say the NRL would beat it anytime soon either , but any combo between the big Sydney NRL clubs ...

I think Adelaide v Collingwood would go close. 3 of the Big 4 Victorian teams (Carlton, Essendon, Richmond) are at rock bottom at the moment so it will be difficult to maximise ratings for the AFL.

On second thoughts, Sydney Swans v Collingwood would probably be the highest rating Grand Final combo. Anyway, I'm looking forward to tonight's Easter Thursday games which should deliver strong ratings for both networks.

The Sydney gets 300K when the the Swans aren't in a GF & 450K when they are , Melb would be no more attracted to a GF involving the Swans & Coll then any other big Melb club

Who says? you ? NRL is a superior product, we outrated the fumbles every game in last year`s final`s series no matter who they were up against.

I enjoy RL and ratings analysis, but the delusions of some people here are ridiculous. NRL and AFL are extremely closely matched ratings wise, yet certain posters have no objectivity.

Everyone here is a big rugby league fan why are you digging on people who think it’s a superior game? Ofcourse we would think that, we’re fans on a rugby league forum. What has that to do with PVL and drinking koolaid? There’s no delusions - we love rugby league and think it’s the best thing ever.

And he’s also right - the nrl outrated all the afl finals games last year regardless of the team matchups or time of day. That’s no delusion or subjectivity, just pure fact. If you don’t like it, tough luck.

On the `NRL Expansion` forum there is a thread titled `NRL Expansion: Google Trends data`.
On page 4, Friday 12.10 a.m. a post was made by `stratocaster`, I suggest you go and read that post, all your worst fears will be realised and what you already sense will be laid out in front of you.
If those statistics were reversed, I can honestly say I would be feeling very glum about the long-term future of my game.
The facts don`t lie.
