Yeh it was amusing at first and blatantly obvious what his purpose was, but every post has to mention afl and I just wasn't in the mood for it today working nightshifts on easter lolIt’s ok I’ve come to have a chuckle whenever I see a post from this afl troll. Just shows how much league is making inroads and fumble zealots are feeling the need to come in here. It just validates the success league is having.
If Alf was truly ahead they wouldn’t have any need to come in here. I’m sure they’re not going to aleague forums with the same bs
Thats channel nines loss not the Nrl, just makes the fta component of the next tv deal more valuable becuase the Nrl is an exciting competition that doesn't have games over by quarter time. The AFL is over so I have switched to the NRL to see Eels-Tigers at 18 all with 8 minutes to go. Nine executives would be devastated that this exciting game is not on their network to boost their 6pm News audience.
It's quite amusing you think I'm an "AFL troll" when I have been to Sydney for 7 NRL Grand Finals including 1999 when the mighty Storm destroyed your beloved Illawarra Steelers, causing Anthony Mundine to quit league and switch to boxing. It’s ok I’ve come to have a chuckle whenever I see a post from this afl troll.

And fta will have to battle pay tv for the best games so that just increases the price of the next deal.
Not everyone has pay tv, so it's the general public's loss if they only have one televised sport to choose from on a national public holiday. (Two if you include horse racing)Thats channel nines loss not the Nrl
Anyone who doesn't have pay tv was provided 33% extra content this round, including 2 games on a national holiday. Not everyone has pay tv, so it's the general public's loss if they only have one televised sport to choose from on a national public holiday. (Two if you include horse racing)
I'm enjoying most games I get to watch, but there will always be an adjustment period because they change rules and interpretations too much.To be fair this isn’t the year to be claiming that “the NRL is an exciting competition that doesn’t have games over by quarter time”. Most games this year have been utter s**** floggings.

I'm still technically correct because our game doesn't have quarters lol
Then why do you feel the need to bring up the AFL every 5 seconds? It's quite amusing you think I'm an "AFL troll" when I have been to Sydney for 7 NRL Grand Finals including 1999 when the mighty Storm destroyed your beloved Illawarra Steelers, causing Anthony Mundine to quit league and switch to boxing.
It's a ratings thread. The only reason to bring up AFL is in the context of comparison in terms of coverage. A lot of people here are dangerously ill-informed about the intricacies of AFL coverage on FTA which leads to false assumptions and statements being made frequently. My only goal is to correct these inaccuracies to benefit the knowledge of all. Then why do you feel the need to bring up the AFL every 5 seconds?
Yet the Channel 9 Sea Eagles, Panthers and Knights games this week were pretty one-sided yet fans stuck with those games, as reflected in the ratings. That's because Essendon had zero chance of beating the Bulldogs and the result was beyond doubt at Quarter Time. Today's Hawks-Cats match, however, is a thriller and should keep viewers tuned in from start to finish. Not sure why the NRL wouldn't want to compete with a game on Channel 9?
A lot of this comes down to an NRL game going for 2 hours and an AFL game going for 3 hours. Naturally casual fans aren’t going to stick around for a full 3 hours if a game is too one-sided.Yet the Channel 9 Sea Eagles, Panthers and Knights games this week were pretty one-sided yet fans stuck with those games, as reflected in the ratings.
I agree, the shorter length of NRL games helps retain audiences even if the score is one-sided. Just one more reason why it is a superior sport.A lot of this comes down to an NRL game going for 2 hours and an AFL game going for 3 hours. We know about all the intricacies of the coverage because wookie lectures us about it here, you don't seem to otherwise you would be whingeing about the lost opportunity for the afl only showing 1 game combined nationally on good friday, a national holiday no less! It's a ratings thread. It is unfortunate, however the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal has been a Melbourne television institution on Channel 7 for decades so that is unlikely to change anytime soon.you don't seem to otherwise you would be whingeing about the lost opportunity for the afl only showing 1 game combined nationally on good friday, a national holiday no less
