It was just something I had noticed in the Gather Round press footage of crowds and players and this has just cemented it. I suspect AFL is almost as white as the NHL.

brought back brisbane 2, perth and bears into the fold. helped acquired the game actual assets to balance it cash strength? tv viewership, attendances, junior footy, general participation, women in the game all smashing their ceilings? keeps the game relevant in media, always backing it.

I hadn't bothered to look it up until he mentioned those players names to me. It is bizarre.

Remember how I said 3.6% of AFL players were born overseas? Of that 3.6%, 1.6% are white from Ireland or England. So it's actually 2% who are non-white and born overseas.

Keeping in mind that the equivalent number for the rest of the country is 20%...

I see that this Friday the AFL is showing two Friday night games.
7:20pm Geelong vs Western Dogs
7:50pm Swans vs Giants

They also have a bunch more coming up after that, many with non-Victorian teams.

Seems like the AFL were worried that the rest of the country wouldn't care about the Swans vs Giants game, hence why only NSW is getting the Swans games.
