Yes, both statements are completely false.
The barassey line is ligit and will probably never really move. All that is happening is people are actually moving around the country in big enough numbers to support sides across the line, then there's always going to be a niche carved out or people who watch a bit of everything. Swans do well but so do the Storm, Lions.. but then there'll be the Bears.
And you're going to get lots of cross overs just on body types.
There's also a change in culture in Australia where young people aren't a peer pressured into one code. You're not outcast anymore when you say your into AFL or vis versa.

I can't stop cringing every time I hear " gather round" . If the NRL ever call something a name that lame, I'm going to find a new sport. They play it at 3 venues in the least relevant city in Australia - how f**king embarrassing.
