Had some AIs make some projections based on the cumulative AFL & NRL 2025 data & 2026 data/trends to date. I'll keep revising these through the season to see how accurate they are:

NRL 2026 projection: 235M – 245M total viewers
AFL 2026 projection: 145M – 158M total viewers

NRL 2026 projection: 241 million

AFL 2026 projection: 161 million

NRL (120 mins per game):
241 million × 120 = 28.92 billion minutes watched
AFL (180 mins per game):
161 million × 180 = 28.98 billion minutes watched

Ratings are program length, not match length.
Fox programming tends to be shorter than Seven
Seven has different programming lengths for different days.

have fun with the calculation

The game in question broadcast on Channel 10 was on Saturday 9 April, 2005.

It was on at the same time as a Lions v Swans game - which 10 almost certainly showed live - the entire premise of their half of the bid was to show the northern markets games live into NSW/QLD on Saturdays.

It was almost certainly shown in Round 20, 2005 - Nine showed the game on Friday night exclusively, and nationally. It was probably the only time.

I hate to be the one saying this...but too much AFL discussion now in this thread.

Well that’s right. NSW is much larger than Victoria. QLD is larger than WA, SA, Tas combined.
And the NRL's strategy atm among a few other minor projects , is to lock down NSW/ACT , QLD ... completely , first, eliminating all local threats ...
And they are succeeding spectacularly !!

I had to go back around 5 pages to get what I was after with ratings! I think the majority of this thread belongs in the fight club!
