That was easily the best session of the Ashes so far.

How awesome is Test cricket when there's plenty there for the bowlers.

Easy to say all that in hindsight. But it’s Adelaide and our bowlers have just bowled 70 odd overs. If you enforce the follow on and England get a couple of partnerships then you have a problem.

You have to bat and back yourself to make it to stumps. Unfortunately we lost a few but we’re still on top and the bowlers get a rest. We’ll be right.

In fairness I was saying all that when England were about 6 down....the night session has been more about survival with an older ball for the whole match, with a new rock it was always going to be downright nasty to bat.

Once again you need to consider the scenario where England make it to stumps only 1 or 2 down. Pitch flattens out tomorrow , ball stops swinging and suddenly you’ve bowled 100 overs and still have 8 wickets to take on a batting paradise. That could just as easily have happened.

I think inherently test cricket is an attacking game and we should when reasonable take the attacking option. It was a blunder. I am not going to carry on about it because its just pointless but these are areas that we could do better.

I have considered it and based on what's happened so far it's the least likely outcome. At very worst you roll Lyon through if the ball for some inexplicable reasonisn't doing anything and protect the quicks, because at the end of the day the thing the English would have wanted was for us to bat. Even based on that, you should send them in and make them do what they least want to do.

Whatever. We should be able to cobble together a 350+ lead tomorrow which will be comfortably enough.

Also the umpiring this test has been quite poor. Lots of shitty LBW calls. Dar is quite clearly just giving stuff out on a hunch and throwing it back to the batsman to review it

As much as I like putting the Poms to the sword, I'm glad they're showing some fight. Didn't want another snorefest.
