Don't know the exact rule but I was thinking dead ball. Sucks for Taylor but it's not like it changed the result.

Definitely should have been a dead ball imo.
Because what happens if the batsman gets halfway down the pitch before being given out, then seeing the finger go up he gives up on the run and is run out, then correctly refers the original decision.

Wouldn't have made a difference to the result, but geez what a farcical end to the game. Amateur hour by the umpires there.

I said it in an earlier thread and I'll say it again... IMO England look unbalanced... I thought Ben Stokes missing out on the squad was a big mistake.

I also think England probably could have done with a dominating personality like Kevin Pieterson... They just give up so easily... You know a guy like KP would never take a step back against anyone...

So when Pup and Faulks come back who makes way? I think Watson may actually get the flick after Marsh's bowling performance today, but the only other person you can drop after today's game is Hazlewood, which leaves the team horribly unbalanced.

Just incase anyone wanted to know...

APPENDIX 6 Decision Review System (DRS) - Playing Conditions

3 PLAYER REVIEW

3.6 Dead ball

a) If following a Player Review request, an original decision of ‘Out’ is changed to ‘Not Out’, then the ball is still deemed to have become dead when the original decision was made (as per Law 23.1(a)(iii)). The batting side, while benefiting from the reversal of the dismissal, will not benefit from any runs that may subsequently have accrued from the delivery had the on-field umpire originally made a ‘Not Out’ decision, other than any No Balls penalty that could arise under 3.3 (g) above.

Whatever............

England are shyte.
Tell that to the guy who missed out on a chance to score a century in a World Cup game against Australia at the MCG.

I agree they are shite... And it wouldn't have made a difference to the result...

But who knows how that farcical decision could effect the tournament down the track with run rates etc...

James Taylor shows some guts which is what the rest of his team doesn't do.

Anyway great start to the tournament for us.

Watson and Hazlewood were quite disappointing.

Honestly I wanted to see Taylor get a century before Australia finished it off.

Brilliant effort from him under lots of pressure.

Clarke will come in for Bailey

Cummins for Haze

Not sure how far away Faulkner is, but if Sunshine continues to fail , its time to drop him for Faulks. Batting order might look a bit weird but , realistically at the moment Sunshine is dead baggage. Might as well have a gun middle order and hope our top 5 can get us to 200 plus with 10-12 overs to go

Obviously the result wasn't affected, but it could well happen - in two games we've had one ridiculous (this one) one poor (Ronchi's catch), one debatable at best (Taylor's stumping) decision (that I've seen) - some would add the Malinga no ball (I saw that as a no ball)...

They need to get better FFS
