What? It's like you're an Englishman living in Perth or something.
Most Queensland Cup teams have very long proud history and each represent a unique geographical area . People play entire careers in Q Cup with much pride and the comp is often won by the teams least represented in the NRL.
Stick to bullshiting about Perth.
Wht size crowd do Queensland Cup teams these days.

Sydney based. Similar to when the broncos joined the nswrl except the bears have 100 years of history.
For that to happen, I would imagine a few things would have to happen before a decision like that comes about.

1) Perth Bears don’t win an NRL licence.
2) NRL launch a national reserve grade competition which obviously excludes North Sydney Bears, Newtown Jets and all QLD cup sides.

Interesting, thanks for posting.

Article says the $600 million includes pathway work across the Pacific. Not just for the PNG NRL team.
No worries.

In the announcement press conference it was announce the funds was also going to Samoa, Tonga & Fiji.

“If the Papua New Guinea venture is successful – and all indications suggest it will be – then rugby league may go on to play a key role in more geopolitics across the Pacific that could have the 13-a-side game being used as a highly effective tool to link Pacific countries more closely with Australia and the US”

What indications?
There's literally zero indications.
After they've been in the competition for a season.. we'll then start to get some.. indication.

Is QRL still clinging on to that false notion that they are not just a reserve grade for nrl?

Thats a great rule!

They function as a reserve grade (obviously) but they maintain a distinct image for the locals who give a shit. It doesnt hurt anyone and they dont just present as used up leftovers like the NSW cup does.

would it really be so hard for the NsW Cup clubs to come up with alternative names or use something historic?

Reserve league will function like g league in NBA. Give NRL teams chance to experiment with strategy etc. independent feeder clubs make that difficult. Also, Perth red really doesn't know what he's talking about.
