Yeah I'v never even heard of Starc and Hastings, and usually we hear something about players before they are picked for Australia.

Hastings played every game in every format for Victoria last season and was the leading wicket taker in each... as well as playing a few very good innings with the bat at FC and OD level for the Vics.

Starc will probably play a few games here and there for AUS in future but I can't see him being a regular...and Hastings is that typical career long state cricketer who was utterly pasted by the backup Windies middle order in the PMs XI...why either is there right now I have no idea

I'd be interested to see White's stats from the last two years in One Dayers. He'd easily be up there for aggregate/average/SR. He's crucial if we want another World Cup

Haurie is a complete waste of space. What does he need to do to get dropped? The guy would struggle in grade cricket. I don't believe Smith is the answer either. Give O'Keefe or even Doherty a chance in the One Dayers. They couldn't be any worse.

Poor result for us, at least Pup found form. Hastings bowled ok on debut also. He looks a qaulity one day bowler. Our bowling attack is rubbish for this series.

Great effort by the 3 Vics who were carrying quite a bit of dead weight in the team. Hastings and McKay were the pick of the bowlers.

Should probably bring in Warner for Marsh if they want to keep Clarke/Hussey/White as 3/4/5 so there is some big hitting in top 4.

Idealy would bring in Ronni Mac (who is in excellent form) for Hopes but he isn't even in the squad.

our bowling attack looks pretty ordinary

thank you, I'll be appearing all week, couldn't believe the bowling attack we picked before the game started

who in that attack is a wicket taker at international level ?

White is a good ODI batsman but as he showed in test cricket, he doesn't have the defence or temperament to lay test cricket. He is a front foot player and cannot defend the short balls at or above bail height.

We made enough runs, although we could have made more with a better start but geez we need to beef up our attack. To me the selectors have picked an attack to restrict the score and not take wickets.

Big mistake.

Why is hilfy not in India?? He isn't the best one day bowler IMO but would have been useful with the new ball over there.

Impossible to judge White on his test career so far when he was ridiculously chosen as a front line spinner and #8 batsman.

If White was to have a big summer of first class cricket he would be worthy of another chance at Test cricket until then I don't think he is up to it.
