We have two days.

Why would we go out there, try and flay it and be all out for 120? That would be inexplicable.
Yep but the lead is absolutely enormous. This approach has given Burns some more time in the middle after a few low scores, but has achieved f**k all else. They don't have to go full t20 mode but you'd think they'd move the game along in these circumstances.
Won't make a difference, just seems very strange imo

I'd suggest we go T20 mode tomorrow, tbh. Just bat out today, look for another 30-40 runs, then tee off in the morning

FMD we’re controlling Smith to a large extent and getting pummelled
I think he is just in average form. Struggled vs Pakistan and getting used to not being relied on to save every innings. Even his FC hundreds this summer have been struggles. I guess if you can score 85 when you are out of form you are not too bad.

The main goal is to bat at least till stumps to give the bowlers a rest overnight and go again tomorrow. Either declare overnight or maybe put the foot down tomorrow.

People will hate it but it works.

Of course it is. I'm baffled by anyone questioning why we would not give our bowlers a rest with so much time in hand.

Bloody nice situation to be in, especially after a lean 12 months without Smith and Warner. A real luxury to (hopefully) have a series against a quality side wrapped up going into Sydney. An ideal situation to blood Warney's son, M.Swepson.

Give our bowlers a rest. And most of the rest of the team as well.

Smith has always looked an ugly batsman whose technique is so hard to bowl to that it is very effective
This summer he has just looked ugly. Even his first innings was dull, sketchy and almost scared batting.
All this f**king bullshit about him being compared to the Don, coupled with teams working out his weakness has made him look very ordinary in the 4 tests played so far. He has a lot of work to do because the world is watching and better bowlers than Wagner are licking their lips.

Good to see he’s human... but we’ve bowled really well to him and Warner... the worry is they’d destroy us and haven’t, good signs for you Wade aside, and your bowlers as a group are light years ahead of anyone in these conditions

I can’t work out why but there aren’t that many better than Wagner...

Lmao does Wade think he’s winning this personal battle? Or that he’ll wear Wags down??

If you include the last test in the Ashes at the Oval all the top 6 have got hundreds except Burns and Smith. Smith has an 85 and an 80 and Burns has a 97 and 53.

Paine looks in form too, good signs for the batting.
