I'd say more to do with the complaining from just about every cricket fan after that joke of a pitch at the WACA

It was certainly the pink ball. It wasnt lasting 80 overs in shield. So the grass was to protect the leather as opposed an abrasive road of a pitch.

Pretty convinced Adelaide only had grass because they were worried about the pink ball

It was decent enougg last year too.

The point being people blame drop in wickets for the flat wickets but the adelaide pitch was good and thats a drop in. I think its just an excuse.

The mcg has been pretty bad over all since it became a drop in. You can see that they have tried here. There is a fair bit of grass on it but its very dry under the surface. Which has been the mcgs issue as a drop in. Like hazlewood just got one to nip in so its not impossible.

Still the balls are a big issue. Arguably more so than the pitches.

There is decent pace in the pitch. The mcg guys do try but its pretty poor compared with the adelaide oval imo.

That was a pretty good pitch and its a drop in.

The second issue is the ball. It wont swing a lot in australia regardless but i just feel its time to unify the ball across cricket.

Youll hurt Kookaburra. But India likes their SG ball so the Duke cannot be used ubiquitously.

Like in comparison to last years mcg this is almost ok. Does anyone remember how flat the mcg and the scg were for last years tests. I made a thread about them they were so bad lol.

Im no expert on the production of drop ins. Its just interesting the adelaide oval was good (for whatever reason) and the mcg has been pretty bad.

People like to blame the drop in pitches but they can be prepared to give the bowlers a chance if they leave a bit more grass on them.

There was enough grass to trick the windies into bowling first. I just dont think they make a great pitch down there. We just have to be disciplined eventually one will do enough.

Lyon is bowling well

Yeps. Could leave more moisture in them too. Even use different soils.

Again im not an expert on how they are made but i think the moisture is the problem. The pitch can be green as the garden but the mcg pitch is so dry underneath
