When are the commentators going to stop going on about Siddle been a vego? They tell us more often than a vegan reminds people they are vegans

Bradshaw actually earlier mentioned Siddle must not have OD'd on the bananas because he got to 140km, something he hadn't done for quite a while.

Without greig & richie Lawry doesn't work anymore. Chappell can fit in anywhere. Lawry should retire woth his pigeons & that stupid suburban game they all go crazy over.

Give me Lawry any day of the week over Brayshaw/Warne/Slater/Healy/Nicholas. He will be missed when - like Benaud and Greigy - his time is up. The other 5 mentioned won't be missed in the commentary box.

Australia has the 2 best commentators around. Its just that channel 10 hires Flem and Punter.

I don't mind Slater though. I think hes the sole redeeming feature of Channel 9 commentary.

Overall, the Ch10 commentary team craps all over Ch9's. With the exception of the Victorians Fleming, Howard and Maher who crap on about AFL, Ponting, Gilchrist and M Waugh have been a superb combination. There is some light humour and anecdotes in commentary, but for the most part they focus and comentate on the game and their analysis (even in the shortened form of T20) has been on the ball. I would love to see how they would go if they were given the opportunity to call longer matches like ODIs and Tests. Nevertheless, Ch10 management have unearthed the right combination. In addition, Mel McLaughlin as host/anchor and Freddie Flintoff as the guest overseas commentator have been a breath of fresh air. I just miss Viv "I'm cool mahn" Richards dulcet tones in the box. Where did Viv go?

Ch9 are no longer "Still the One" like they were during the Packer years. Ch9's decline in commentary started with when they changed from 2 to 3 commentators per stint in 2006/07, to Warne's inclusion a couple of years later, to Brayshaw slowly getting more airtime in T20s/ODIs...but things rapidly declined from 2012/13 when Greigy was diagnosed with cancer during the pre-season and died just days before his planned comeback for the SCG test, Benaud's last summer in the box before a car accident just before the 2013/14 Ashes ended his career, and Lawry going into semi-retirement afterwards and only calling the Boxing Day tests. Only Lee, Hussey, and Taylor have been shining lights in the 'younger generation' of commentators Ch9 have produced. I was watching highlights from the 2011/12 summer the other day (the last summer of the Benaud/Lawry/Greig/Chappelli quartet) and noticed a big difference in the quality of commentary compared to what has transpired since then. Bottom line is that we, in Australia, who grew up watching cricket during the halcyon days (such as myself in the mid '90s) were definitely spoiled for many years and I feel sorry for the younger generations who have grown up listening to Brayshaw et al.

Sorry, I agree with some of what you say and disagree with others bits. Huss is a little boring and dull in speech and Taylor is a moron. He and Healey ride the short bus. Lee is nowhere near the bowling analyst that Flem is.

I do not miss Viv Richards at all. Love him as a player - but he's boring and dull as a commentator. We get it Viv, you were a great player who played aggressively and won a lot with your four quick bowlers and openers that you inherited from Clive Lloyd. I'd be more interested in hearing Clive Lloyd - I get the impression that he is the brains behind that show.

Mark Waugh I am not a big fan of. He's not as bad as some Ch 9 people, granted. But he's not a master class of commentary. Whereas Flem may talk about his Hawthorn Hawks winning the comp (I am a Kiwi so I know next to nothing about AFL) he is a master bowling commentator. His knowledge and insight of attacking and defensive bowling, and more importantly bio mechanics of hip position and joints and describing various wrist positions and his ability to convey that information simply and interestingly is without peer.

Punter is an amazing analyst and great interviewer of players. Agree with you on that absolutely. Gilly pales in comparison to Punter and Flem for me. But yeah - he's not "bad". Just does not stand out as brilliant like Flem and Punter do for me.

Brayshaw - well when he suggested today that first innings 100's are by far the most important - he lost all credibility with me.

Freddie and KP are very entertaining men. And that does help the Ch 10 for light heartedness.

KP interviewed while batting and calling his shots was something else. I feel for people who missed it.

And while I like Freddie, he's only guaranteed to talk about the live game when a boundary (or more so a airball) is hit or a wicket falls. He acts a goose a lot - but he's entertaining with it.

those 3 are terrible and i don't rate Punter either

Waugh, Flintoff and Gilchrist are the only ones from 10 i can stand

Damien Fleming drives me up the wall with those lines he makes up, such as "doorway to departure", I wish he would use that same doorway and get the f**k out of the commentary box

I like waugh & ponting on 10.fleming is a wanker. Fleming talks about afl. It pisses waugh off. Why can't these dopey victorians understand we don't care about the game where 90 000 ppl turn up to watch two suburbs play each other.

Why do you guys care so much about the AFL?

Its not my jam. I think its a silly game. But you guys lose your head and dislike its fans just for being its fans and saying it with pride.

If everyone behaved that way, do you realise how unpopular cricket fans would be anywhere but Australia and India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh?

Agree about the Vic commentators talking about Aussie Rules non stop. Wonder if Victorians know that apart from them and 3 other states no one else follows it or knows about it.

Fleming isn't a Victorian he is from WA

One day some non AFL commentator will tell the AFL commentator to pi$$ off.

Mark Waugh pissed one of them off

Victorian commentator said something about one of the players supporting the greatest football team in the world

Waugh replied with "what, the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs?"

the Victorian commentator was not impressed at all

Nice to be informed during a BBL match that Mark Waugh is a GWS Giants fan and on board with them and also follows soccer, league and union.

So its not just "Victorians".
