gutsy stuff boys, especially from Handscomb, that can be real energy sapping for the next 24-48 hours, he may be f**ked for a bit

this pitch has not really done much, neither have the banger's bowlers

agree

but cant help to think Bangers contributed to that. They missed a couple of catches and a stumping. Their bowling wasn't great, lots of full tosses and balls pitched in the wrong areas, certainly made it easier for us, though the heat would have been a bastard for concentration

The bangers let themselves down. Not just with the missed chances but on a flat wicket if the batsmen look buggered you have to try and up the pressure a bit. They let warner and handscomb off the hook when they were both completely rooted. A bit more aggression in the final session and they might have snagged a wicket

What is the longest period when the 'Dean Jones was on a drip' story doesn't get an airing?

Hopefully handsome Pete can score a hundred and we can hear about his story rather than Jones' f**king bullshit.

Do we reckon Nathan Lyon can get a bit of respect now?

He will no doubt have a poor day or 2 or 3 during the ashes on some day 2 road and the usual idiots will be calling for him to be dropped.

Easily the best spinner we have and has been since he came in.

Meh. Same old. Lyon is one dimensional and always will be it seems, but apparently being a cult hero is enough to make him the best ever. He has it in him to nab the odd decent bag and he loves bowling long spells, but he's just not that threatening

Let's not forget how long he went between drinks in terms of taking five. Did not take a five wicket haul between December 2014 and those 8 wickets he took in Benagaluru in February this year, and only 3 four wicket hauls in that time too.

But sure, the last three matches on crappy subcontinental wickets definitely erase those 50 + innings without a five for.... as long as you can get a kick out of calling him the GOAT, I suppose.

Depends

Does he have big levers? How is he going for toys?

Lyon's accuracy was very repetitive, cant argue with that, he made them play at almost everything, despite the fact that he wasn't getting any turn he kept plugging away.

Normally he doesn't have an issue turning the ball and its his lack of variation of which I have been very critical in the past but in this case it has been his accuracy and lack of turn which did the job but that is more a trait of the pitch and not the bowler, Bangers didn't pick up on that and played for the spin.

Smith did the same, got bowled from a straight break.

A surprisingly excellent knock overseas from Warner, great stuff. Pity we only have about 3 batsmen and we need him to score about 250 for us to have any decent lead
