This is all set to kick off shortly.
New Zealand have won the toss and will bowl, no changes to either XI.

Conditions should help the bowlers again on day one, but I suspect they won't be getting the freebies they got in Dunedin.

strange decision to bowl first, and paying for it

Dunedin did more harm than good, all those freebies on the first morning made us think we actually had a good bowling attack.

198/1 and this is just the beginning, its going to be a sorry test match.

Straight outta NickCompton with back to back hundreds-departs for 100 exactly.

This gem on cricinfo:
Out comes KP, then. And here's John, as a faretheewell: "Just think - in his last two innings, Nick Compton has scored as many test centuries as Shane Watson has in his career!"

Looked like another tough day at the office for the Black Caps. Only taking 2 wickets and 2 Pommie batsman making centuries

Weird decision by McCullum to bowl first. The only bowl first wicket they've come across over the past 12 months was that abomination in Seth Efreka. Every other time was a bat first wicket time and time again. Cook would have giggling like a schoolgirl when he heard McCullum a day say he'd bowl first.

What happened to the days of green tops and extravagant swing to help our seamers, we used to be able to make Daryll Tuffey lethal at home.

Don't know what these groundsman are doing with all these flat decks, just look at the Ford Trophy results where 300 is par. Not doing us any favours at all to have 5 day batting draws like the subcontinent, either that or a loss as our batting is always just a little more crap than the rest of them.

Trott gone!

Get Pietersen now too and there is hope if we keep England to under 400.
That and a second innings bowling miracle is our only chance of a win.

Good to see a New Zealand spinner who knows how to turn a ball. I don't reckon Vettori's turned a ball in 6-7 years.

Trent Boult I think is too impatient at this stage of his career. He tries too many 'dream' balls, the ones where if you get the perfect swing its unplayable. He drifts far too often into half volleys and onto leg stump. He needs to become more consistent. He's got all the tools, decent pace, swing, seam, but he's not consistent enough.

Bad over from Boult. Two freebies short and wide outside off stump.

Bruiser Martin strikes again though. Watch this Vettori you old donkey, a dude tries to use his fingers to impart spin on the ball, and lo and behold, it turns, and he's getting a bag of wickets. You old son of a you know what, you seriously have been having a tug for years.

Dropped catch by Watling. Was he even watching the ball? Terrible wicket-keeping that.
