Think they had a plan for Rutherford, and he went overboard... not sure his spell was quite that awful, but he'll be disappointed... but from what I've seen on this tour, he's a good bowler, no doubt in my mind about that

No problems with going short into the body of Rutherford at all. But ball after ball after ball? One ball in your opening spell with the new ball hitting the pegs (which was a lolly half volley)? He went over the top with it. I think a good plan to Rutherford is to start getting him going back, and then get a ball on full of a good length going across him to see if he wants to drive while his weight may not be on the front foot.

And another New Zealand batsman throws it away with a poor stroke. Thats now the top 4 who have absolutely given their wickets away. Sliding to a hefty defeat with this attitude.

New Zealand openers starting to pad up again. They'll be batting again just after lunch I feel.

f**k f**k f**k...

great ball to get Brownlie... but his concrete boots don't look a long term recipe for success... only just clipping stumps :(

Held up on Williamson... it's doing that a little now

Bottom hand was coming through for Williamson. I think he was trying to get aggressive on a straight drive, when he's just a lovely timer of the drive. Brownlie needs to look to get forward a lot more.

Can't believe there was no third slip there, Watling was a goner for sure.

Smart man Cook. Broad wanted on a referral on McCullum. Looked to be doing too much, going over the top, and I also wonder if he was hit outside the line.

Two things I will say about Tim Southee as a test bat - he's brainless, and he's not a team player. Hooking straight down fine legs throat when there's two back for the hook, and you've just come to the wicket with the team needing a partnership to avoid a follow on... how dense can you be?

He's scared off anything over early 130's kph, thats his problem.

We might get lucky here. Forecast tomorrow is a little rain overnight, rain all tomorrow afternoon, persistent rain Friday. Getting past the following on mark will be critical IMO. That'll add at least 2-3 sessions to the test, which may not be enough.

Come on Boult. Show Tim Southee its possible to be a quick bowler who isn't a pussy and won't give it away. By the way, have they taken Southee out the back yet and started pounding 150k missiles from 15 yards with the bowling machine, at the ribs and head yet? Helmetless?

Panesar. LOL. What a disgraceful fielder.

Boult swinging from the hip when there was only 12 to avoid the follow on. Absolutely atrocious. Both Boult and Southee should be sent out the back to the nets, and now wind the machine up to 160ks off 15 yards. Gutless pieces of crap.

Especially Southee who thinks he can counter attack like Gilchrist.

It was pathetically dumb from both of them. Surely they'd talked about the weather forecast with rain looking imminent after lunch tomorrow. A bit of application by Southee and Boult and it means England have to bat over 3 sessions to get the score and time they want to declare at, which to me with the forecast would make it odds on for a draw.

Fulton and Williamson did well to get the team through to stumps. First hour tomorrow is crucial. If they can get through to lunch 2 or 3 down and the weather starts to close in, we may get to Auckland with a sniff still.

Fulton's got to get rid of that horrible back foot square cover drive he has. That's three out of three that has got him out. He's playing with half a bat away from his body with hard hands, well outside of off stump. There's no reward for that shot.

I live slightly north of Wellington - no chance of any more play today IMO we just had an hour or so of consistent rain.

I was wrong. It all cleared away pretty quickly and it looks like they may get an hour in.
