I've got to give him credit. That was a heck of innings. 3/21 against Rabada, Philander and Morkel on a seaming wicket, he counter attacked with great skill. That was a fine balls to the walls innings.

In relation to CDG, I was miffed he was in the team firstly, and fuming when I saw him opening the bowling. But he was accurate and getting movement. SA are lucky they weren't 3 down, I have no idea how Southee didn't castle Rabadas middle pin.

Always happy to be proved wrong about inadequate NZ cricketers

This is the big partnership. If we get one of these 2 for less than 100 (team total), we're well on top

More quality runs from Bavuma. Bloke is a very handy cricketer
He is, and all the talk is that he'll be the one to go when de Villiers is available again, but for mine Duminy is a myth, and he's first to go. Unless Amla retires, which at the moment he looks like he's ready for

51 run partnership so far from the last pair.

BJ watling needs to ring Wadey for some keeping tips, he's been woeful again.

Anyone see the Kiwi TV reporter "light" media video? He was up his iPhone calculator app and claiming it was a light meter.

We've had our chances in this test, but a disaster now

Latham is completely bereft of confidence and ideas, and while Colin took wickets I can't believe he's picked as an opening bowler - and surely if we want turning wickets there should be some advantage to us, only Williamson has any clue how to play spin, and he's effectively opening against quality new ball bowlers on new ball pitches...

So bad. The batting. So bad. Especially to a fairly innocuous left arm off break bowler. Looks to me that they got spooked by a couple that turned and instead of trusting their techniques, five blokes tried to bash their way out of trouble.

Some of these blokes were gutless. Southee is a #10 at best. He doesn't care what happens. He'd rather try and slog his way out no matter the situation. He's a massive plodder with the bat.

The team selection is diabolical. You can't have two bits and pieces players. You just can't. You need a top 6 who you entrust to score runs, three quicks and a spinner. 5 bats, 2 bits and pieces players and 3 bowlers, completely unacceptable selection.

Out for me go Latham, Neesham, CDG. Lathams a good bat but he is so out of form he is completely exposing Williamson to the new ball in every innings. Latham needs to play for Canterbury and relearn how to bat with confidence. Neesham needs to show he can be a first change bowler for Otago, 2 balls per over going down leg is not satisfactory . And CDG needs to learn how to get to 130ks and show he can bat time, not just slog.
