Quite easy for Williamson to look good when the rest of your team are plodders.
I guess you could say there is no one for him to shear the spotlight with
Your guessing is about as good as your spelling.
If you're referring to fielding, NZ is a great fielding test team. Guptill, who no doubt has poor history in test cricket with the bat, is a fantastic fielder of world reknown. Mark Craig, who is no Ravi Ashwin, is if nothing else, a very very good 2nd slip. Boult and Southee are the best fielding opening bowling combination I think I have ever seen in the world. I challenge anyone to name a better combination to have played ODI cricket, let alone test cricket. Latham and McCullum are former keepers and display that skill with their work in the field. Santner had a bad drop in Adelaide, but he has shown some incredibly good work on the boundary line catching and stopping boundaries as well as effecting run outs with great ground fielding.
Who are the great fielders for Australia these days because Warner is not having a good year in the field and well below his normal standards? Maxwell is a pyjama cricketer. Smith been dropping a lot on the slips of late. Who are the Australian test fielding greats at the moment?
Who are the great Australian fielders in the current test team?
But if you're talking about batting, KW is in an international spotlight and while former Aussie greats like Slater and Border, in New Zealand not many, if any, have made any claim that he has usurped AB De Villiers off his perch just yet. Furthermore, Ross Taylor got a pretty nice 290 against Australia despite being a "plodder".
Lets look at some Boult (opening bowler) catches.
