We were poor but we are missing the best batsman in the world, the most destructive opening bat going around and 2 top drawer fast bowlers.

Add in the (w)anchors that are Marsh brorhers and we were rooted from the word go.

and our 2nd best spinner...compared to Holland SOK is Shane Warne

lol at mark Waugh saying when lyon had those quick 4 wickets, we could have bowled them out cheap, get a big 1st innings lead and win the game LOLOLOLOL
Ah the difference between Could and Didn't. We could have bowled them out cheap, but didn't. We could have got a big first innings lead, but didn't. We could have picked someone, anyone else other than the Marsh bros, but didn't and so on.

Last time we were there we got flogged 2-0 with Smith and Warner in the team, this time it was 1-0 with a lot of players missing. Had it not been for the injury on Khawaja and the persistence with selecting an over the hill Shaun Marsh, it probably could almost have been a minor success due to the debutantes making a real effort in tough conditions.

I mean, realistically, despite how pathetic we were for large parts of this test match, it's not a bad first proper hit out for a young side hamstrung by having no bowling attack, no real captain and both Marshes. I'm a fan of Paine and I think he's a good leader for the most part, but he's on a hiding to nothing as Aussie captain.

Yeah, agreed. He's been let down badly by the players picked for experience who didn't do much of anything. Starc and Lyon can't carry the attack on their own. Especially when not given enough time to recover between innings by the batsmen. Thankfully Lubuschangne was able to help out a bit.

If Renshaw was picked instead of Shaun Marsh and got out for 14 in one innings, Langer would be on the horn to the selectors straight away begging for Marsh to be back in the team. Hopefully supercoach now sees that Marsh simply ain't up to it.
