Hussey dodgy against spin and pace right now. And Clarke almost out to Harris again.

Punter said he'll probably declare after about an hour, depending on the weather

Good call no point in giving SA any sniff which is what we would be doing be declaring at 500 overnight.

Yeah, bat for 1hr today then have 5 and a half sessions to bowl them out, setting them between 550-600.

Each time we play in South Africa we just need to pick some debutants... S.Clark man of the series on debut last time and now Hughes is slight favourite ahead of Johnson who could still take a bag in the 2nd innings.

Yeah id bat an hour tops try and get another 50+ and declare. 500 While still very hard doesnt fully shut the gate on them. The wickets not great but the fact we are 3/300 shows you its not impossible.

5 and a half sessions , should be enough.

Don't want to give them too many. If you set too high a target then they'll just play for a draw. You want to give them a carrot so that they'll try for the target and if they do then they could make a few mistakes.

It's over in terms of who can win.

Australia will bat for an hour and then have 5.5 sessions to bowl the Saffers out - plenty of time.

Pressure is a big thing - Australia came into bat with no pressure at all and a 214-run lead. Sth Africa will bat one batsman already down and playing for a draw at best, with confidence battered.

And although Australia made the pitch look like a road, it showed enough to suggest this will take a Herculean effort for the Saffers to salvage anything.

This "it ain't over yet" stuff suggests a real mindset change from Aussies - of course only one team can win it from here, and regardless of whether AUst win or draw this test, I don't see Sth Africa coming back to win the third- I mean, we are talking about South Africa

What a great match for Hughes, amazing he is only 20. Plus Seth Effrica are gone, beaten.battered, bruised and broken they are. If they get more than 300 i will be suprised.

Smith is out for around 3 weeks so I'd rather be in our position than theirs.

They did just beat us away so they deserved to be favorites, but I cant help but put some of the blame for our performance on the selectors.

I guess we are in the box seat but I wonder how we would have gone over this summer if Hughes was picked when Hayden was hopelessly out of form.
