As for tonight..

3. RTS. Massive. Huge influence from the wing
2. JFH. Noticeable how he stepped up
1. Egan. He's so tough

Far too harsh on Ford, some people. He wasn't great tonight but he's been in our top 5 players all year

Too harsh? This forum might as well be Ford’s personal fan forum. He could run out there and lay a massive dookie on halfway and 80% of this forum would praise him for it.

Lol hardly, he cops a top of shit when he’s bad. Ford is what he is, a smallish, mobile middle with a big motor who’s effective if he can keep the error/penalty rate down and if he doesn’t get outmuscled by a particularly big pack. Both of those factors went against him him today, not helped by a couple of sketchy refereeing calls.
He’s also consistently better off the bench, which is on Webster more than him. Leka should’ve probably started and Niukore probably shouldn’t have played at all. I think we’d have got better value out of Bunty today.

Right- so our game plan is to not play against teams with muscle in the middle.

I mean, I’m not particularly down on Ford here. He just isn’t what he isn’t. We need Barnett and he isn’t him.

If this forum had a view of Ford that was this realistic he’d have about 10% of his current 3-2-1 points.

I am. I’m happy to take on the mantle of number 1 Ford hater. Things have gotten out of hand.

haha it got to the point where I don’t want to be that guy.

But I guess what I am saying there is that my issue is more with Webster’s stubbornness. Granted, we just don’t seem to have a ready replacement for Barnett, but Ford isn’t it and neither is Niukore.

Probably the wrong thread, but I'm going to run with it in here.

Ford didn't play well last night, which flies in the face of any thought that myself, and others, would give him 2 MOM points for doing a turd in the middle of Suncorp. He wasn't good.

But I reckon it's pretty unfair to say Ford hasn't been at the very least decent, and actually very good at times this year. To hold him up to standard of being a ready replacement for Barnett is crazy. Barnett is a bonafide rep player. Ford is 3rd, 4th banana being forced to be 2nd with Barnett out. And it's also not fair to say he struggles against big packs. He was outstanding against the Sharks a couple of weeks ago. It's also, I reckon, a bit unfair to say Bunty would have been better, when Ford has outplayed him all year.

There are bigger flops in this team. Didn't Niukore run once in his first stint last night? Why hasn't Ale progressed? Bunty has been in our side for almost 10 years and 145 NRL games, and at 28 should be in his prime, but doesn't command a spot.

I dunno why we have to go after Jackson Ford, who when he is 3rd banana, off the bench, is actually a bloody solid option. Gotta have a whipping boy or a lightning rod for criticism when we lose, I guess. He has a huge motor, makes his tackles, makes post-contact metres, and I have no doubt is a great team guy that you know is going to work hard next to you.

My point is not that Ford should be judged by how well he replaces Barnett. My point is that he isn’t a suitable replacement for Barnett, but nor do we have one. So, yeah, we are kinda agreeing here.

I’d love to know about Ale and Afoa too

I mean, Afoa is probably the 17th guy picked, but I had high hopes for Ale.
