HM- AFB, Pompey- yeah, I know, some awful stuff, but some great stuff as well. Curran, a lot of effort. Walker had an impact initially. Ford was good.

Not our night.

Vailea and Montoya pretty poor, really.

Ford was rocks and diamonds. A few of those killer penalties were him so he’s nowhere near points for me.

All of our outside backs had their f**kups but also moments of greatness.

Could tell from the get go it wasn’t our night but they did hang in there really well.

Thought at least one of those penalties on Ford was bullshit. Knights deserved to win, but they also got the best of the ref. Thought Hastings should have been in the bin in the first half. Thought Crossland could have gone for the tackle that injured Te Maire. Fitzgibbon put on a shoulder charge. Most infuriatingly, we were getting penalised for some hairline calls of inside the 10

It just gets frustrating and feels like bias, it must be subconscious bias surely? Of course you pick the refs errors for your team, but could only pick a late tackle let go on their kicker tonight for us.
We basically handed them all their points with mistakes and penalties.

3. CNK - incredible effort yet again, was nice to see flashes on attack too
2. SJ - definitely reborn this year, instead of going missing he seems to find another gear in adversity
1. Curran - gets through a ton of work

Lots of HMs.

Our journeyman edges are our biggest problem, not for lack of enthusiasm but a shortage of class.
I hope DWZ is ready to have a big year.

Yeah, it wasn’t the worst from the ref tonight. But I didn’t feel like we got the better of the calls. Ah well

The game was won and lost on our stupid disallowed try and their couple of arsey tries from kicks either side of it. We did enough to win otherwise. Notably, all 4 of our tries were very nicely constructed and we should have scored even more, so we played more than enough football to win

Refs missed the shoulder charge, the hip drop and Hastings taking out SJ after a chase. We were robbed a try as well ... but it was mostly mistakes that cost us. Kosi, Curran, Ford, AFB were good. Sirro too actually. Pompey was rocks and diamonds.

3. CNK - set up a try as a ball-player, created another with an offload, should have had one himself
2. SJ - not perfect but heavily involved on attack, especially when TMM went off
1. Ale - seemed to play huge minutes by his standards, first time he’s been so prominent in a game so why not give him a point

Thought Kosi had a bit of a shocker, which is a shame when the guy who will replace him scored 4 tries today (and would’ve had the pace to score that intercept)

Those three in particular put in huge efforts and pretty much everyone else had a dig, but a few too many rocks and diamonds games from too many of our players tonight. Kosi, Vailea, Curran, Pompey, Ford all did some great things, but either had defensive or disciplinary lapses that cost us.

Would have been good to win that one with a tough run coming up. Another poor start and this time is bites us. Well, another poor first half, really

We’ve got the Cows at home next, which we really should win before a few tough games. Really need to nail the start next week and ice that one.

great to see CNK playing well again, not an elite fullback but his effort is always there
