Just back from the game.

Panthers much more patient than us. We are dumb.

Will try rematch it as you always miss some things when you're at the ground (and vice versa).

But I'll go-

3- Tevaga
2- Kata
1- Matulino

EDIT- watched the game. Gave Tevaga a bump ahead of Kata. Kata was dumb but I am not throwing him completely under the bus.

Solomone Kata Cappy Jnr? You're having a laugh right? In the last two weeks that guy has added brain explosion stupid thuggery to his arsenal which clearly isn't balanced out by his ability to run really hard and straight.

Yep, definitely some hot head behaviour- but not alone in that regard.

Wow, Kata? First 70 minutes he was a God amongst men. The last 10 seriously, absolutely moronic play. Dumb as.

3 Tevaga
2 Hoffman
1 Lillyman

Like I said, I was at the game...might change my mind once I watch it. Plus he was over the other side of the field to me in the second half. Might have missed the moronic stuff or been swept up in baying for the refs' blood

+1

Tevaga's stocks keep rising IMO. A good footy mind, and puts in the work.
Hoffman looked the looked the goods to me, for the first time this season.
Lillyman just kept on trucking, obviously SOO around the corner... but I saw tonight how much he wins the wrestle in attack and defence

Kata was getting two or three until the last ten, and that's the ten we lost it. A few are complaining about his aggression but I'm not minding it unless it's out and out thuggery. We need some attitude out there.

Oh, and smarts too, of course.

We contained the mighty Cartwright pretty good, but other ball-players stepped into his shoes.

In defence of Gavet, that off-load was on. There was risk involved but, yeah, it was still on.

I'd swap Johnson for Soward right now. Sure, he doesn't have that blistering speed, outrageous footwork, etc, but he's just tougher and smarter, and hates losing and stuffing up, and when he does you can just see him burning to put it right.

Yep, agree totally. Johnson just gives someone else a filthy look and gets ready to do the same again.
How many mistakes does it take for someone, Sir GH if necessary, to have a word in his ear?

Tougher than it seems this week.

3. Matulino 161 mtrs. 26 tackles. (Only Watene Zelezniak ran for more.)
2. Hoffman 124m 20 tackles. His best game this season.
1. Thompson 50mtrs 51 tackles.

Matulino & Thompson showed they were keen to make amends.
Tevaga had a fine game.

Again no points in the second half.

We really lack a thinking half.

Gavet's offload was definitely on, but support players were way too late and by the time there the window to offload with high % success had closed and perhaps his lack of experience led to him still trying. He was let down in my opinion.

Kata I thought was harshly done for the penalty at the end. Even though a chainsaw low tackle means the attacking player can get to his feet quickly (compared to being on his back squashed by two players) the refs still have to give the tackler a few seconds grace I reckon. They gave him nothing.

All in all the effort was there, the patience and smarts weren't and I don't think Johnson pre plans his game well - I mean what the f**k was he thinking with his in field kicking in those conditions?

Game and result were about what I expected.

If we could defend well we would be a top 6 team for sure. But we have sucked at that for years.

Sounds about right, I'm not too pissed off about yesterday because nobody phoned it in and were right in the game until that runaway 75th min try. We lacked the clutch play to close off Penrith, and in trying to come up with it we threw some stupid passes. Sometimes those 50/50 plays stick and sometimes they fall apart.

Smarts will come with experience, especially experience in combinations playing together for extended periods of time. If we keep turning up every week and actually learn from our mistakes, we'll get there. It was a far cry from our shocking Melbourne game.
