3- Ford- made his tackles and excellent kick chase
2- Metcalf- even we weren’t matching them in the middle, he and cht outplayed their opposites.
1- Vaimauga- obvious impact

HM- Halasima, RTS, Clark, Capewell

3: CNK, try saver after try saver.
2: Metcalf
1: Vaimauga

Ford was solid in the middle and has a huge motor.
Clark was massive and influential offloads.
CHT unlucky not to get points by me, some great kicks, defense and trys.

Great win going into bye.

3 - CHT 2 tries, 2 try assists and his standard tough defence, including at least one try saver that I saw.
2- Vaimauga. His best game yet. Ferocious with and without the ball and a silky try assist!
1- Capewell. He locked up that right edge and that was as important as the points we scored!

HM, Roger. Pompey, Clark, JFH, Ford. Leka and CNK.

Note: Is DWZ now the slowest on the field?

Gee even have the same honorable mentions I had...I guess I can throw in Laban who has been out in the cold for a while because of our forward depth, it was nice to see him show he has a classy side to his game with ball in hand too....even though long term he will be our defensive backrower we need because of his engine.

This will be an interesting spread, a dozen blokes deserve points.

3. CNK - Epitomised the level of effort and stamina we represent, even in the 70th minute was stopping tries.
2. Vaimauga - Where the heck did that assist come from? Just scary potential.
1. Ford - Has hit such a groove that we didn't even miss Barnett out there.

HMs to CHT, Halasima, Metcalf, Clark, Capewell
I thought Healey was excellent and looks every bit a first grader.

That was unreal honestly. I wasn't buying into the "Barnett gone, season gone" talk but I never saw us completely demolishing a good Sharks side away from home. They weren't even terrible, but in that second half they had nothing as we shredded their middle and pounced on every half chance that came our way.

Very refreshing to put some points on, we've shown we can get into the wrestle with just about anyone but we're more genuine top four if there are tries in us.

We're about to get a well deserved run of home games, what a year it's shaping up to be.

Any question of whether or not fish would stand up got answered. Like I said it may not be visible in the stats but the confidence he gave the young blokes in Leka, TSS, Vaimauga, Laban, even Clark is fkn immeasurable.

They know they can go wild and take it to any pack because they have Uncle Fish right behind them. This guys Mana is incredible.

He is a different kind of silent leader/lead by actions to Tohu/Mannering of the past. The difference being you know he wants a scrap, would be willing to go anytime but never needs to. That must be some next level confidence to the rest of the pack. And in a weird way he also gives off a caring vibe too. Very important signing for this club.

Went to the game and watched from the hill so didnt get to see much of our try scoring efforts in the 2nd half:

3. CNK what an absolute machine on kick returns and D. I feel slack saying earlier in the year he looked old and done.

2. Clark - Just gets it done.

1. Vaimauga - massive performance and mean try assist.

How team was great although i still have my doubts on DWZ and wonder if we could do with some more pace out wide.

Dishonorable mention - Shark Park. What a shitshow. Had to park 25min walk from the stadium and then took 10 minutes to walk from the entrace to the hill. Also how is it they can pay Nicho a mil a year but they make us use portaloos and makeshift toilets? Ground was sold out and was only 13k people. Ill take the ghost town of olympic park any day over that.

03: Ford. 2025 beast mode. He's found himself and looks comfortable with the team. Engine keeps on going.

02: Vaimauga. Starting to shine and find his groove. Best game for sure.

01: CHT. Solid on attack and defense.

HM: Team effort on D Was the best thing for me. They're playing for one another out there. It's pleasing to see.

Hard to give points this week, for all the right reasons

3 - Vaimauga - feel like he changed the game in the second half
2 - CNK - saved at least 3 tries
1 - Ford - a toss up between him and Clark, but gave it to him because he had to fill Barnie's shoes. He's turning into an excellent middle

HMs - pretty much everyone else. Nobody had a bad game.

Though... DWZ still seems afraid of contact (he's noticeably slowing up when hitting the line), but he does give us a bit of an aerial threat.
And... thought Pompey could've got involved more, and wasn't at his best defensively. While the Sharks scored their 2 tries on the other side of the field, they got into position through breaks down Pompey's side.

Capewell strong in the centres again.
Healey looked right at home. He will have given Webby plenty to think about in terms of bench makeup.
2 more try assists for CHT - he's leading the team in that stat, and deservedly so, imo.
JFH will never be the metre-eater that AFB was/is, but he's something that AFB will never be - a pack leader.
Laban didn't look out of place starting

Special mention to Leka's aftergame interview on Sky. Hilarious!

On AFB - he only ran for 125 metres, and apart from 1 nice offload, those run metres didn't look particularly threatening. His pre-game media chats all amounted to smoke.

Best thing about this game, for mine: we didn't let them score in the second half. Kept our foot on the throat and kept scrambling right until the final whistle.

I think one of the things that I noticed last night was the swagger. Vaimauga. Halasima. Harris-Tavita. The boys are really looking like they're enjoying themselves. Shades of Penrith (Luai, Crichton, To'o). Honestly, so long as they keep grinding when they need to and scrambling when they need to, I'm here for it.

Yeah I said in the game day thread, I think the criticism of him on here has been a little harsh. Defends well and kicks well. Plays second fiddle, but creates more than we give him credit for.

I definitely thought that we missed Barnett and Egan. We got split open in the middle, but then scrambled so well. Capewell was massive in that respect, as was Harris-Tavita. Also, Metcalf's kicking game and our kick chase.
