3-2-1 v Storm

NRL.com rules:

The Referee (or Review Officials) may award a penalty try if, in his opinion, a try would have been scored but for the unfair play of the defending team. A penalty try is awarded between the goal posts irrespective of where the offence occurred.

Ford would have scored cleanly if it wasn't for the original infringement.

I would have accepted the penalty but after bunker review they awarded it a try I was sweet with it.

F**k the Storm and the dirty tactics in the ruck was more of an issue to me than this video referee decision.

No no it has to be 100% guaranteed he would have scored before a penalty try can be given…. So says a big proportion of the league community, including Joey John’s annd other old hacks, ignoring the fact nothing can ever be guaranteed, so that premise is stupid af. Try scoring position, give the penalty try, keep it simple. To be fair, the NRL refs are interpreting it much more like that these days, learning from Union on that one. It just works.

Thought he was poor in a couple of moments and otherwise pretty standard
The whole team played well and lots of people have said that, you could pick any of way more than 3 players. I enjoyed his game.He has great footy IQ, an example would be early in the game as the last defender with 2 or 3 Storm players to defend, he picks the right guy and tackles him into touch. A pivotal moment in my opinion that ruined their confidence. While I am at it I will say I also really enjoyed RTS Vaimauga Laban Clark Egan. I hope the same team gets picked for this week and Tuaupiki is the default FB going forward

Tuaupiki's two bad moments were comically bad, but it's a pretty rough assessment to call the rest pretty standard. It shouldn't be underestimated how readily he defused early dangerous kicks, found little gaps at speed, and swept around the back for covering tackles. He was under pressure all night with the Storm regularly trying to catch him out.

For a guy who's only played 30 NRL games he's amazingly calm and smart.
If we're going to give him fullback it's now or never I reckon.

Also, we can all agree that Ford's try wasn't a try, right?
Looked double movement for sure, weird they awarded with no explanation, but Storm tackler swung around under his ball carrying arm make it look like th a team action pushed it forward.

You could basically see the idea come into Ford’s head to advance the ball hahah

3. Vaimauga
2. CHT
1. Fish

I have to issue a written apology to Roger. I said he wasn't up to centre, wasn't the answer. I was wrong.

That said, why didn't the Storm pick apart our edges as per normal? The defence in the forwards didn't allow their back-line the room. That was the blue-print for the first 2-3 games this season. The old cliche of forwards setting the platform, is very true for warriors

Melbourne were smashed in the middle. Fisher Harris initially and then Vaimauga.

I think the Ford try wasn't as bad as it looked because he had actually kept the ball carrying arm off the ground, whereas initially it just looked like an obvious double movement. When he did ground the ball, it was very close to the try line. His second movement then took the ball way over the line but I think the video ref was basically saying that when he first got to the line it was still momentum, even if there may have been a double movement after scoring.

Still 100% the wrong call imo but I think I know where the video ref was coming from. Squares up that Cronulla one last week.
