If someone scores a great individual try then yeah, it's going to bump them up in the points. End of the day, the game is about scoring tries.

Heremaia was very good apart from his tries but deserves extra credit for scoring them. May not have been in my list without them, but he scored them - so he's in.

well, wtf are we supposed to rate it on ?

Well, I actually agree with the comment that was made. On various forums points can seem to be skewed towards the try-scorers, even if they've had relatively ordinary games. I would think unless the player has done something outstanding in the rest of play or has been brilliant to convert an outside chance into a try that it probably should be based off their actual in game performance.

Anyhow:

3 Jacob Lillyman
2 Sam Rapira
1 Kevin Locke

Lillyman and Rapira were excellent grinding the ball forward. Kevin Locke was outstanding on kick-chase and also had a couple of freakish pick ups on his own line. Locke basically cut Barba out of the game and made him look a bit foolish at times.

Lance scored a great try - not mentioned in the 3-2-1
Heremaia scored 2 beauts - hardly mentioned... much..

What a dribbler. There's more to Rugby League than being on the end of the last pass. You are startling fresh evidence that people don't necessarily get wiser with age. Either that, or you've evolved from a turd

3 - Heremaia (Not for the 2 tries btw) but for the good service and quick darts

2 - Maloney - Definitely finding that form again, overall a complete display from him

1 - Locke - Turning into what we all have been waiting for, slater look out

Again the team performance was excellent and if one player has to be singled out it would be Manu too for me, bring inu in cleary you clown

I think Manu deserves credit for his game, he made a couple of damaging runs and seems to be building every week. Hopefully he can stay fit and be back at his best in the finals.

so everyone who picked Heremaia, Mateo, Maloney are only picking them because they scored a try/s in your opinion ?

We are supposed to pick our 3-2-1's that go with the flow, that are fashionable ?

wisdom may not necessarily come with age Meth, but it doesnt come from hanging onto every word uttered by Mcgivor and Lavina either. You and Iddie have no show.. :)

McNoIdea couldn't tell a forward pass from a forward's arse.

I doubt anybody here hangs off his every word. Otherwise all the points would be going to the try-scorers and nobody else. Howhigh would be leading the player of the year race by the length of the Cook Strait.

If you can settle for a 2nd rate manu thats fine with me BUT this close to the finals he should be firing NOW not when the finals come
Ill put Inu in as he has been the form back for some time, Manu needs to want it more

Hard. Us making a dent in the finals depends hugely on Manu getting back into form. At the moment he is barely a threat, let alone a rampaging beast. Currently Tupou is just as effective in attack and defense, if not more so.

I'd actually like to know who in particular the person grumbling about people picking try scorers was referring to?

Personally I think it's flavour of the week to pick Mannering, even though he had a merely solid/good game. How anyone can rate him higher than Mateo, Heremaia, Locke, Rapira, Lillyman, and 3 or 4 others for actual effectiveness versus the Bulldogs is beyond me.

He had an amazing game versus the Titans - but let's not suck his dick just for the hell of it aye kids.

No. I don't think that any of those 3 are horrendously out of place in this week's 3-2-1 either. But, according to your reasoning, the 3-2-1's should be determined by who scores the trys. 'What else could we possibly rate it on?'

Idiot

You always go on and on about these people who supposedly hang on McIvor's every word- personally, I think you are one of the few on here for who the shoe fits. Your ideas about Rugby League make McIvor and Good sound like Jack Gibson and Wayne Bennett.

Rich coming from the number one Mannering hater on here, works both ways champ.

 It certainly does! I picked Mannering last week, when I thought he had an outstanding game. This week I thought he was just decent, so I didn't.
Merely pointing out that he's getting loads of points when in my opinion there were 3 - 5 players who were clearly better performers on the day. Comprende?

What was that saying about opinions and arseholes?

Very true.

Have nothing against these threads, but to me, the whole 3-2-1 thing is pretty flawed for at least two reasons... 1. there's no set criteria for how everyone should rate players performances and 2. so much happens off the ball that we either don't pick up, or we aren't able to see at all. Many of the game-changing events in a game happen because of multiple players, but we tend to only notice the one with the ball (e.g. Heremaia's 1st(?) try, think it was Packer that draws the markers his way, helping Aaron to make his break from dummy half).
