No they shouldn't have. How many kick offs do you see where the experienced players are telling the kicker how to kick it? NONE. You don't need your hand held like you're a boy. He's a professional, did you know that? A professional league player. Geez.
I absolutely agree that it shouldn't be the case, butI think if we've learnt nothing else this season, its that easily half the team aren't at the level they need to be, and DO need their hands held and told exactly what to do. Unfortunately :/

3. The Fus- outstanding!
2. Johnson
1. Ken

HM. Ashyford, Hoffman, Mannering

Feel sorry for the team, they tried hard and played well. Dropped their lollies at the end. Obviously Ata had a horrendous f**k up, but SJ shoulda taken that kick off. Pretty hard to charge downwind kicks when you just come on I'm guessing.

Now that the anger has worn off, was a much improved performance and effort. No surprises that it coincided with SJ's return

Beavers Headgear is welcome to post here for me, he doesn't troll and adds his honest opinion. We could do a lot worse.
I don't care if he is a Manly supporter, he isn't coming here to lay the boot in.

Seems like we can't catch a break. Perfect chance to break the drought and look what happened.
I didn't watch the game or listen to it on the radio - and to be frank, I'm glad I didn't. Good to hear that we were in the match for the entirety and not switch off after 50 or so minutes.

I don't have one, I just said I didn't watch nor listen to the game. I am not in a position to do a 321.

3. Fus (our best by a mile. Was in almost everything good we did)
2. SJ (despite playing the entire game injured, put in some nice kicks when we needed them)
1. Ken (just barely)

That game was so winnable!

Too many little stupid moments. Like when Lisone dropped ball on his first second half hitup. Jazz's multiple f**kups (how the hell was he on the field for so long! He's the ultimate hand-brake in attack - slowest play of the ball ever), Ata kicking out on the full, Kata and Maumalo managing to screw up that golden point opportunity at the end, etc. etc.

But thank god for a game that was exciting. Both teams in it until the end. No drop off from us in the last 20! And a glimmer of hope.

In fairness to Jazz, he was putting himself about and carting the ball up with a lot of commitment. It was similar to NYC Jazz, lots of scrap, fight and bitter determination and a moment or two when he tries too hard and overplays the moment. In NYC you get away with that. For him I think he will gain a lot of experience and I still believe that he is a talented and spirited young player who can make it.

For me, the obvious question marks are Luke, still thought he was lethargic on the ball, Foran, doesn't appear to me he had any desire to present an option at the end he seemed quite happy to leave it all on Shaun's shoulders, Ata who pulled off probably the most pea brained moment I've ever seen at Mt Smart and God only knows we have seen some shockers and Kata. No blame on Maumalo for going out, that was all Kata. Ken I thought had a really good match along with Fus.

Yeah I agree partially with Jazz. He certainly tries hard and he put his hand up for a lot of hitups. But he's too small for the role he was playing. He needs more power, or height, or something. He hasn't yet learned how to position himself in a tackle to get a quick play of the ball, and every single one of his hitups felt like a major slow-down on our attack.

The props are mostly to blame for this, as he was doing too much of their work. But if he's going to be used like this in a future long-term, I'm not convinced that's going to be effective.

He's not the first Warrior to kick it dead from the kick-off. Nor the most experienced. (I've see SJ do it.)
I thought the explanation about the strong wind and having just come on covered it pretty well.

TBH even though he made a bunch of errors, that was one of the first times I've been able to see Jazz as a legitimate option at 13 in the NRL. He looked promising, if still raw. I wish we'd give him the position in NSW cup consistently and develop him there instead of using him to plug whichever hole is required... Bell should be the guy doing that job, as he's not a legitimate first grade option (of course Kearney probably disagrees....)

Luke is the luckiest SOB this year... Roache should have had his spot, and when he finally did get it (only 2 months overdue...) he got injured. Then Manaia gets a horrible concussion last week and fails the protocol this week, so there's no pressure on Luke at all, and he quite unbelievably gets to continue starting in NRL despite being the 3rd best hooker at the club right now.

Oh, and as for the 3-2-1..

Of course he's not the first. But it's a howling game and a 7 point lead. Rather than try and belt the living bejesus out of it, hit it pretty low and remove the risk. Especially after he's seen Blake Green chip kick 40-20s. It was an easy risk to size up. He took a horrible horrible option and executed it appallingly.

I like James too. He needs though to add 5-6 kilos. Both him and Jazz are the types of blokes prepared to do the dirty work, like Mannering does. I'd be keeping both those lads.

Also I saw the farewell players photo. Saw Ofahiki Ogden there. Are they serious? He's been outstanding and potent on that left edge in each grade he's played in.

I hope that's a breakout game for Fus. He's always been our best backline prospect for mine, nice to see him really put it all together.
