Also Bailey I really hate saying this but Brook is right

You sicken me! :p

I'd say the Knights still have a better chance in signing Harrison than the Tigers have of signing Kidley. :D

And it's ok, I won't tell brook about that PM. I wouldn't want you to get into any trouble. :-#

Do u honestly think we have a chance at getting joey?
No chance IMHO

But geez,I'd love to see that.
If he did come to us it would be the hardest offseason to
sit through.

The Tigers have a better chance of signing Dally Messenger

The Knights are in a tough position. Do they keep a champion who through injury has given them far less than value for money, or do they bite the bullet and go with the future in Gidley? They'll be tempted to use the money that might have gone Joey's way to sure up some of their young talent and maybe look for some class in different positions. They showed with Matty that they were prepared to put the future of the club first. I'd be stunned going on what Johns has already said if he at least didn't test the market. When that time comes then the Tigers are in with a chance for sure.

If Orford is also on the market, then he is going to be the no.1 not Joey. So long as Johns still wants to play NRL rather than take the big bucks in England (his brother's experience may tell against this) or give the kick and clap a go then it's far from unrealistic to think he could end up at the Tigers - but they'll have to throw the kitchen sink at him. So long as the Tigers don't finish lower than 10th and show enough to make him think he's a shot of lifting that into a force I'm sure he'd think long and hard about one last big pay day in the big time. The thing working in the Tigers favour is that guys like Sattler and Paterson etc, will be off contract in 05 so even if they go large on one of the best halves in the game they'll still be cashed up to go shopping again the year after.

I hear the same thing everytime Joey's contract is up for renewal. Joey would more than likely take a pay cut than play for the Tigers.

Joey wont go anywhere. He will be a Knight forever. Forget it. Michael Witt will replace Joey when he decides to retire.

Forget about buying a 5/8. We need a halfback AGAIN. Prince is a classy 5/8 not a 1/2back. He is better wide of the ruck with players running off him. Did you notice Fitzy was playing 1/2 back last night !

Go all out signing Orford IMO. He can also goalkick btw ;-) Chances of getting Orford though ... 1000/1.
Also another prop forward is needed. I agree with yappy, Martin Lang would be a good buy for a season until the lower graders develop. (Lets make sure Sattler is in his best friends ear).

Number 1 priority signing is Skando. My heart would break if he left us for another club :(

The players we should be looking at bumping off are guys like maybe Miles, Mears and Patterson, bu they should only be going if they are replaced with better players......still thats not something we may be able to guarantee.

No way westie.

If a Clinton or Bailey was on the market then maybe. But they ain't mate. And all the next generation are tied up too as far as I can see. So long as Sheens doesn't relapse into believing 2 props is enough then Gibbs and Lima will come on well I suspect. I'd want to have a chat to Marty forsure, just to make sure he isn't having second thoughts about retirement, but other than that I don't know of any Props who are going to be available except maybe Parsons.

Conversely two of the best damn halves in the game could be up for grabs in July. If they are the Tigers should try and move mountains to get one. I give Sheens and the Tigers heaps, but an Orford would transform them. Say the tiges let go everyone off contract bar Skando and Moodie to put together an offer he couldn't refuse. You'd have a squad something like

FBs - Hodgo, Duff
Wings - Richards, Moodie
Centres - Elford, Marshall, Harrison, Wilson
Halves - Reynolds, Prince
Back Row - Satts, Graham, O'Neill, Laffranchi, Halatau, Fulton
Front Row - Skando, Payton, Gibbo, Lima, Patto
Hookers/Utilities - Farah, Fitz, Galea

Add Orford (or Joey) to that mix and you're a serious danger side. There would be a whole lot to like there. More performances like last night's over the next two months and your approaches wouldn't be dismissed out of hand either.

We need to retain Skando. I wouldn't expect us to sign Martin Lang (he's John Lang's son-we've got next to no chance).

Orford would be good for us. We've needed a class halfback for, well, ever.

O'Meley (sp) would slot straight into our front row and would make us a force that could not only match the gun forward packs of the comp, but even look like getting over the top of them. I would only give him a one to two year contract but we NEED some beef up front.

I rate Orford in the top 2 players in the world at the moment with Lockyer and he would definately take us places. Imagine a Prince and Orford halves combo. I dont think it really matters who plays on the wings, they are gunna look like champs outside that combo.

But we really, really need a gun prop to give those blokes in the halves a platform to work.

The dogs have their full cap money next year. Not one of the players they want to keep will be on the market come July 1. Shrek would be a good get, but not if getting him cost you a shot at the Ox. As you said imagine an Orford/Prince halves combo. With guys like Hodgo, Richards, and Marshall outside to take advantage the Tigers would scare the bejesus out of most sides.

O'Meley signed an extrensuion on his current contract earlier this year prior to the scandal. I believe he will remain a Bulldog until the 2007 Season. So rule him out.

Skinnon? Skinny is great and I suppose would be real cheap, but you do realise he played in the same Magpies Metro Cup side as Fitz and the Kaufusi's in 2000 don't you? He was about 27 then too. I'm so glad for him that he finally achieved his dream of playing First Grade.

Does anyone remember a player called Benji Marshall  ,Benji and Prince in the halves will do me.

If you want to go throwing $400,000 around at players we'll end up a one man band like Newcastle etc,we have enough talent at the club and all we need is a bit of fine tuning.

I'd buy one each of the following,a class winger/centre,a big and mobile prop and a tall off loading impact 2nd rower.

Moodie and Richards....class wingers, dont need more of em.

I wouldnt be looking for halbes either,Buni and Princey will do me just fine.

We need a big ball playing backrower and a big meathead front rower.Mason and Perry would be the two I like but Perry is contracted.

Id like a gun centre too,but there arent any lying around off contract.Gasnier would be nice but he is uncer lock and key.

Prop and a 2nd rower and Ill be stoked.....

One forward i'd go for is Kirk Renyoldson from Melbourne. I've been very impressed with his form this year. Great leg speed too!!

I agree with most of your comments

I will be stoked with Orford joins us but if we want Benji as our future 5/8, the signing of Orford will slow down the process. If Orford signs, Prince will be moved to 5/8 and Benji to be pushed to centre.

We do need a front rower and a gun centre in my opinion.

O'Mealy and Tahu would make me happy. Elford although a nice player is not a long term solution.

Moodie will be gone so we do need a winger, I am sure we can blood one of our young guns there in Collis, Greally or Duffy

If all goes well, this is the side we have

Hodgson
Richards
Harrison
Tahu
Collis/Greally/Duffy
Benji
Prince
Fulton
Sattler
LaFranchii
O'Meleay
Farah
Skandallis

Gibbs
Halatau
Lima
O'Neill
Graham
Heighnington
Galea
