JJ, forgot to mention, interesting point you make about the two low-scoring games at Eden Park. For me, a lower scoring game wins out over a game where both teams get 300+ or where batsmen comfortably score a century without breaking a sweat. Most of the memorable ODI's in Australia were the ones involving sub-200 scores on pitches which did quite a bit (especially the SCG when there it was a bit underprepared due to rain). Remember the days when scoring a 50 was a big deal and got a loud applause, let alone the rare 100?

I think the four teams that have played at Eden Park this tournament have been lulled into a false sense of security, thinking that they can hammer a 400+ score because the boundaries are approx 50-55m. That is what instigated Australia's 8/26 batting collapse vs New Zealand. Even as they were losing wickets, the mentality of the Aussie batsmen was that it was ok to keep playing with gay abandon because sooner or later a wild swing at the ball which hit the top edge would go for six. South Africa made the exact mistake against Pakistan and got bowled out 20 runs short with a WHOPPING 14 overs to spare.

Our wickets were usually seamers, that 92 world cup and the few years after that weren't representative of our wickets imo - quicks like Hadlee (both) Collinge, Taylor, etc etc relied on swing and seam - the problem was that it was too easy to get sideways movement and people settled for medium to medium fast bowling...

We made a deliberate effort to get more pace back in the wickets, but our climate means that usually requires grass - in a way the drop ins your bemoaning have been good for us...

Saw highlights of Damien Martyn's innings from this Eden Park test the other day. Lot of swing and seam at Eden Park, and Patel got a fair bit of spin.

And as you know, I HATE DROP-INs. Would prefer to see more green tops like when you guys rissoled India in 2002 or the time when Ganguly pulled out of the crucial 3rd test of the 2004 India vs Australia series at the last minute "injured" (where Australia won their first series in India in 35yrs) because there were a tinge of green on the wicket. Sadly, when you guys tour Australia later this year, there most likely won't be a green-top in Hobart as the Sheffield Shield batsmen complained about the Hobart pitch being too green

What a joke, take their passports away if they lose this

We should stop their aid if they beat us, INGERLUND.

The selection for this team was shocking all along and everyone knew it, some brutal omissions from this squad even if they escape this game they're no chance against top opposition.
