Does any Aussie care about this game?

Im sure SL will be coming hard to make it 3-0. Good luck to them, they have improved out of sightand they are enjoying themselves, a treat for their many fans comign out to the games.

Hopefully we can salavge something, after all like Clarkey said winning (ODIs) momentum going into the ashes is important :sarcasm:

Dead rubber of a game, the 4 nations tonight is also a dead rubber.

Ch9 doing this = ](*,)

Good chance for Sri Lanka to give a chance to Jeevan Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, Chamara Kapugedera and Dammika Prasad some experience in Australian conditions as they will be needed for future tours.

Upul Tharanga (25), Dinesh Chandimal (20), Chamara Kapugedera (23), Angelo Mathews (23) , Chamara Silva (30), Jeevan Mendis (27), Thisara Perera (21), Suraj Randiv (25), Dammika Prasad (27), Nuwan Kulasekera (28) and Lasith Malinga (27).

With only Chamara Silva over the age of 30 in the team.

Shame our pathetic CA couldnt organise a 2 test series with SL. Would have helped our side prepare better for the ashes, and the tests would have been close imo

Parraboy, you know my feelings of Sri Lanka's lack of Tests in Australia :D. So i won't turn this thread into another whinge about it.

I created a thread in the 'Cricket' section a couple of weeks ago if you want to discuess the issue further.

Ponting rested and Ferguson likely for the match. I hope Starc gets a run, no point playing Siddle as hes got nothing.

Aussies still playing for pride.

Also get Xavier Doherty back into the side.

I think Johnson or Siddle will drop out of the side for Starc. Doherty won't get a game they will want Hauritz to bowl at the Gabba. Hope Ferguson bats at 3 to give him a red hot crack at a good bat at the Gabba

If Starc comes into the team and does well, what then ?

they drop him like they did with Doherty and bring in the incumbent crap again

It will show what a joke our selectors are if Doherty doesn't get a game and then misses the Shield clash because of it. If hes not going to be picked then send him back to play Shield. They say the Ashes is important well he could be a bolter for the spinner spot, at the very least he could show what he can do in the longer format instead of serving the drinks for Clarke and his buddies.

Doherty shouldn't be selected for test matches, at least not at the moment. While he may not be much worse than Hauritz (that's not hard) in the longer version of the game, he's still not going to have much impact and is not the spin answer Australia is looking for in tests. He reminds me a lot of Brad Hogg. Great in the one day format and he would also go alright in the T20s, but doesn't have the same impact in the longer version. I know he did well in his last shield game, but his average is terrible. I suppose if he improves his average over this season (Before this season he hasn't been selected for shield games much) with the development of his arm ball, he could be looked at again.

I agree with everything you have said. The only worrying thing is that Hauritz was picked in the Test Side with a First Class average similar to Doherty's now (may have been even worse IIRC!)

Neither of them should be there. They're just isn't any genuine alternative. O'Keefe is another option. He's first class average at 25 is a lot healthier than the other two and his batting is a bonus, but in saying that he's only played 9 FC games and the SCG is kind to spinners.

Exactly. Instead they had to go to friggin' India. I'd also would've had players playing shield cricket as well. (Yeah I know some are already)
