He did warn one batsman, fair enough but to immediately take the next step with the other batsmen seemed a bit much. He could have warned Johnson too. and it should be only taken off if the same batsman does it twice.

Anyway no point worry about that.

So it's 301, now this will be an enjoyable game, NZ have chased plenty of 300+ totals aginst Australia, granted not all have come off, but those type of chases have been entertaining, remember that game in Christchurh? Or the one before that in Welly and the Perth one about a year ago?

If the umpires feel it's creating some sort of advantage or that the players in the first innings are breaching the rule they have to warn them. It's basic.

Ferguson and Johnson may not have intened to do it and I don't think they were doing it on purpose. But that's the rule you cannont run on the pitch deliberately which in the umpire's mind they did. To be frank I think only Ferguson's warning was fine he did it and was warned I personally thought the penalty on Johnson was stupid but again like I've said that's the rule. Hate the umpire or not he did make a point with the first warning and if the following plaeyrs don't follow it then they are penalised. Simple.

If the umpires are just as strict for NZ when it comes to running down the wicket, then I will be fine with the warnings they gave us, after all, if they can't get it right at least they can be consistent.
