Yeah they were certainly tough on Papps, averaged 100 over a season, and the only chances he got were against a good South African attack on pitches doing everything you can think of

Maybe the part of me not rating Broom comes from him being my age and he didn't really dominate the schoolboy scene in Chch at the time

fair enough, cheers

Will try check them out. Will do some touristy things in auckland eg bridge climb/jump, volcano tour, skycity look/jump, Zoo/underwater world, cruise to some of the nearby islands, etc...But yeah would like to be a bit rustic and branch further out. I had planned to go further north for a look

Auckland's worth some time, as above unless there's a reason to do Hamilton, best avoided

Get to Rotorua if you can, the Bay of Islands, Nelson, Queenstown would be my first recommendations

Recommended Auckland activities: Rangitoto walk, Waiheke if you like wine and a west coast beach/waitakere ranges visit is a must. even if the weather is no good its worth the trip.

Cheers bud

Yeah will spend some time in Auckland, going to both eels v warriors league game mt smart stadium, and the ABs vs SA union game at eden park, so will have 6-7 days in between to explore

Odd we decided to field first. Wonder if Clarkes ommission had anything to do with it? In anycase NZ could look to set us over 280 Id imagine

NZ 4/134 in the 26th

Taylor looks set for a real biggie

That shot is why Taylor shouldn't be the vice captain. Great batsmen ruined by his temperament.

Go north- some of the best beaches in the country are north of Auckland

Goat Island, near Leigh, about an hour out of Auckland

Coromandel is nice as well- Hahei, Cathedral Cove
