3rd Test: Australia v Pakistan at SCG on Jan 3-7, 2017

I just checked out Hazlewood and his stats reveal just how hard going it is for the quicks on most Aussie pitches atm.

Again it's still early but there's a trend as he averages 31 at the Gabba, 42 at the MCG, 29 at the SCG (before this test) and 52 at the WACA.

It's only the more pace friendly Bellerive Oval and the D/N tests in Adelaide where he's had major success in Australia.

Handscomb's keeping was no better than Wade's before he gave up the gloves

Well, if he's no worse, and you're going top have Hanscomb in the team (and not Nevill for some reason), you lose nothing by throwing him the gloves (but gain an extra batsmen or bowler)

Btw Steyn averages 21 in India, 24 in Pakistan and 24 in Sri Lanka.

Step aside Garry, Dale's da real GOAT.

For India I'd bring back Neville and Marsh for Wade and Cartwright.

Bat Marsh at 5 and Handscomb at 6.

McGraths 21 average in India is pretty impressive too considering he bowled against some of there greatest ever batsmen who were all in there prime,Tendulkar,Dravid,Ganguly,Laxmann,Sehwag

Amazing from Steyn to average under 25 in all of those places you mentioned

Handscomb has made a great start to his test career at number 5. No need to burden him with anything extra.

Straight swap - Nevill for Wade, but the selectors inexplicably prefer some nice garries over a keeper who can catch.

On Nevill's batting, he looks like a guy who has the technique to eventually flourish at test level, but is making sure his keeping was up to scratch first for the team. On Wade, he looks like a wanker who appeals loudly everytime he catches a difficult ball regardless of whether the bat was anywhere near it to draw attention to his "good work."

I like it when Wade is looking to run a batsmen out at the bowlers end by catching and throwing in the same motion but fumbles.

Bowlers win matches and if I was picking a team to play for my life out of the players I've seen in my lifetime, McGrath would be my first pick.

And I'd feel damn good about my chances with him in my team.

40% of his wickets were batters 1-3, which is higher than Lillee Marshall Ambrose Hadlee Steyn and Imran... basically everyone I checked by at least 4%. Howstat is my bible, what a website.

Best new ball bowler of all-time.

Careful, people will accuse you of being stats obsessed :p

Howstat is awesome. Shame it doesn't extend to FC cricket
