If only there was some sort of technology to provide artificial light to allow cricket to be played in conditions like this. Or even night-time!

So would I be right in thinking that if there was a pink ball being used, there'd be no issue and play could continue until whenever?? Clearly a pink ball is used in both daylight and under lights when it's dark but the red ball cannot in the latter circumstance or if it's gloomy even if the lights are on full beam... If that's the case then get busy perfecting the pink ball for use in both day/night and day Test matches.... FFS cricket, get your shit together....

Well its raining and I'm auditioning for the Fox comm box.

A comparison between Warner and Khawaja in England:

David Warner
Tests - 13
Runs - 651 (High score 85)
Avg - 26.04

Usman Khawaja
Tests - 6
Runs - 236 (High score 54)
Avg - 19.66

Both with a point to prove, not just Warner. Usman should get a better run as he is cemented as an opener now. Won't be shuffled around the order and unless his form falls off a cliff before the Ashes he won't be dropped.

I'd look up India but Khawaja has never played a test there. Davey averages 24.25 from 8 tests in India.

I think Warner will need to use his cricket ‘brain’ and critically evaluate that analysis

It is going to be an interesting year for the batting line-up with India and England tours ahead. They have filled their boots this summer, but many of them might not be in the team this time next year.

Khawaja always been suspect against swing/seam bowling, but plays spin well. Head is suspect against spin but plays pace well. Warner struggles against both, and Green fairly unproven despite obvious talent. I think we are going to need Smith to find 'Best Since Bradman' mode again.

I hope someone remembers where the light switch is today, you know, just in case.

One thing I couldn't quite get my head around is that the Saffas were offered to bowl their spinners, who were going OK at the time, yet they opted to leave the field.

Surely it would have been worth a few overs, at least, in those conditions.

The Proteas are here in name only, their minds are in South Africa. I believe that we will never see them tour Australia again over the Christmas/New Year period.

Of this mob only Mr Mo can go home with his head held high, the rest have been terrible.

I mean if by going ok you mean 'actively being assaulted with a deadly weapon but in such a way as to be in no danger of immediate death' then yeah Maharaj was going just fine
