Morkel is a good support bowler and a good cog for Steyn but he's not all that great. Concedes too many runs but he generally takes a handful of wickets a match so I doubt they really care.

It doesn't feel right talking up the Poms lol All of them had a great 2005 no doubt but that's their career highlight and I feel they didn't show anything close to that potential in other tours and series. Simon Jones was the genuine world class and it was an absolute shame to see him crippled with injury.

Their depth is also nuts, Finn and Tremlett would open the bowling for years if they were Australian.

Enough hyping up the Poms for now lol
 So true, but we have to give them credit they are the best team in the world ATM.

play resumes

poms 3/470 - 246 run lead

India starting to take a couple of wickets and have a new ball due.

England 605/5

Cook has been sublime and there is still plenty of batting in England's lower order

On cook for a moment, he just got the 250 up. I think he has become the ultimate professional batsman, he has been knocking off records in this innings. He is not the best stroke player by any stroke if the imagination, but he conducts himself very well and even set backs are strengthening him as a player, superb return to form in this match and just hearing what he had to say about it after last night, much respect for the way he conducts himself. Watching him bat today as well was beautiful, ultimate anti KP. Does the job with no fuss, intelligent play as well as an astounding amount of patience and belief. The guy racked up a double ton and hardly stopped to celebrate and just went on with his job.

Cook falls 6 runs short of the triple ton and England declare with a lead of 486 and 13 overs left in day 3.
I am devastated that it's 3am and I didn't get to see a Cook triple ton, he sure deserved one, but may have got a little impatient.

Indian bowling attack was always suspect and boy it has been exposed in this match.

England haven't had such complete pwnership over India since the Raj.

And is Cook Boycott, only better? Once the bugger gets in he just grinds you down. Not much flash, just good old fashioned test run accumulation.

I know we have to stop all of this pom praise, but they are No.1 now and seem to have more all-round quality than India whose depth has been badly exposed. Nothing like those sad pathetic jokes of pommy sides we used to towel up. Still will make it that much sweeter when we knock em off in 2013.

England should be number one by some point late this evening. Would be interesting if Tendulkar manages to pull out his hundredth hundred in the second innings. The Wall could put on a good show too. That said, KP looked very threatening with the ball last night, so the wicket is offering more than enough assistance. Hard to see India staging any sort of fightback.

India are gone imo, I dont think even their staunchest fans think they could come back from this

India have some superb batsmen, Cook put on nearly 300 on his own, a draw is not impossible. It's incredibly unlikely, but not impossible, rain would help too.

At the moment, I think there is a massive psychological advantage that England have and I doubt India could bridge that. England's bowling is also so much better than India's that the two side's attacks are not comparable. Cricket is however a contest between bat and ball and I don't doubt that India's batsmen are capable of taking on the English attack, but they might be doubting that and would be enough to rule then out of the contest.

Lalala, England should probably be world number one before tea.

Cook shows that determination and application can overcome some technical flaws. He has the perfect test cricket mindset
