Lol, spud.

We've been kicking your arse comfortably since the 70's. I'm sure we've had transition periods in the last 40 years. I don't recall JT partnering Brett Kenny in the halves, do you?

Idiot. Trying to get a rise out of people constantly but only succeed in making yourself look like an idiot.

Never said you did. But your reasoning that Australia won't be "nailed on favourites" because of a transition period due to "retirements and injuries" is just plain flawed because we have been dominant for the better part of 40 years, and I'm sure we've had retirements and injuries in that time too.

Try again.

you've never had a mass retirement before..you have no idea how it'll effect the team....

australia is gonna lose its key players over the next year/18months...thats a fact....and with it australia are gonna lose the near telepathic understanding your 1,6,7 & 9 have....

the next 2 years are going to be very interestering thats for sure.....

ps..you are the only one rising when i mention australia....so i think i'll carry on,cupcake....

We've already lost Lockyer who was the main playmaker. We'll have Thurston, Slater, Cronk and Smith for a few more years. And Slater is readily replaceable by Inglis who is arguably better now anyway. And Cronk is easily replaced by Cherry-Evans who is just as good. Judging by their age, they will at least play the next two years. I'd expect at least Thurston or Smith to still be around in 2017, but I think we'll be fine up until then.

Yes we have multiple times, all throughout the Kangaroos history there have been times when all the players in the spine (and other positions in general) have all moved on with in a 12-36 month period. It happens about once every generation of footballers (so about once every 8-10 years).

australia is gonna lose its key players over the next year/18months...thats a fact....

Your having another case of wishful thinking!

There's little to no chance that we'll lose all the players in our current spine within the next year and a half.

Smith, Slater, Thurston and Cronk have at least 3-5 more seasons in them, if they want them and their body's hold up ( probably more if they're interested), I doubt very much that all of them will decide to retire within the next year and a half.

and with it australia are gonna lose the near telepathic understanding your 1,6,7 & 9 have....

That "near telepathic understanding" isn't anything new or unique, it's gained through regular play with or against each other, a general understanding of each others playing style and regular studying of each others playing style (something that players do before every game against each other these days). So are you suggesting that suddenly we'll start choosing different players in the spine every few games or so (after the transition period of course), or that we'll start picking players from the Super League again (none of whom could make the Australian side ATM anyway)?

the next 2 years are going to be very interestering thats for sure.....

Only in the way that we'll see the next spine start to come through, two of which are almost certain in GI and DCE, the other two are very much still up for grabs IMO.

Agree with others, would love to see Fiji host their own games if they make it.

Though I too would love to see them host their own games, I doubt that they will be allowed to. Unfortunately everything comes down to money and there's simply more money to be made in Australia and NZ then in Fiji.

There's more money to be made in England than Wales or France too.
Fiji should at least play England in Suva. If it's just another double header at Eden Park I'll be disappointed.
How's this to mix it up a bit:
New Zealand v Australia - Wellington
Fiji v England - Suva
Australia v Fiji - Melbourne
New Zealand v England - Eden Park
Australia v England - Brisbane
New Zealand v Fiji - Christchurch
Final - SFS

Mix it up a bit, let's not just have the same draw for every tournament where England play NZ in the last round, England always plays at Melbourne and the final is always at Suncorp.

Yes but unlike the RFL the NRL actually understands that they are a business and that they need to make as much money as possible to survive.

Le't put it this way is making a loss in Fiji worth it when we could have made a profit in Australia or NZ?

None of these will happen- New Zealand v Australia- Wellington, Fiji v England - Suva, New Zealand v Fiji - Christchurch and Final - SFS. The others may or may not happen.

Most likely scenario is NZ v Australia- ANZ , Fiji v England- Parramatta/Centrebet, New Zealand v Fiji - Auckland and Final- Suncorp.

Personally I'd like to see more cites get games then just Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland, but it's unlikely that it'll happen.

I'd like to see places like Canberra, Wellington and the GC get games but I doubt it'll happen.

The NRL has plenty of money to survive without relying on one test match that wouldn't get any more fans in to a double header anyway.

I said I'd like to see them happen. You have no idea what will or won't happen. Wellington got a game last time.

Yeah maybe, won't stop them from keeping the game here in Australia for the extra dough.

I've never claimed to know where the games will be held, but I can make an educated guess based on the prior decisions of the NRL, that they will hold them in the stadiums that they think are most likely to make the most money, and unfortunately I just don't see Suva or Christchurch even coming into consideration.

BTW, I never said that Wellington wouldn't get a game, only that they wouldn't get Australia v NZ, and another place I'd like to see get a game is Perth.

Well you worded it pretty strangely then.

The NRL is fairly predictable when it comes to scheduling. I'd love to see Perth have a game.

We're all predicting that Fiji will beat Samoa. I'm not so sure, will Fiji have access to their super league and local players? Samoa will field a purely nrl team, fijis locals will be underdone. I can't believe the Fijians have to play Samoa again just to qualify after all of the success they have had recently.

Newcastle is another league city that needs to be serviced with more international's. Would like to see Australia v England played in Perth. Lots of brits and east coast expats to attend and any local interest would be a bonus. The Australian national sides seem remarkably restricted to sydney Melbourne and Brisbane these days

So nearly 3 months on from a very successful world cup and nothing that resembles progress has been made or hinted at in any part of the world from what i can see. Doomed to more of the same for the next four years imo.

There is no reason why the could not have announced the four nations and elite tests for the season ahead. Instead the focus unbelievably has been on origin for the past few days with articles, camps and NSW announcements!

If it works out to be Fiji being the 4th team, I would love to see their match with NZ or Aust played in Suva. How much would this give the game a boost in Fiji? Even with the extra costs surely the RLIF can see the forest for the trees with this proposition as a full house of 15k in Suva would be better for the game than a 12k crowd in Parramatta Stadium! Add in a few days of clinics run by the test players in townships would help the game enormously and I'm sure the players would love it.

This is up to the NRL however, the 4 nations is not run by the RLIF.
