I note within 2 yrs of royce being given the arse they won the comp. Royce must have been sacked for doing a good job ... it's always the way

CDF, mulli etc. may be repetitive, but there is ALOT of truth in what they are saying. That doesn't go down too well with some, who would prefer to close their eyes, sing kumbaya and spend their days watching the 2005 GF DVD. Well, wake up because that was two years ago now, its irrelevant in our current situation.

The reality is, everyone wants the same thing - a competitive and quality team. After 05, we should have gone on with things and became even stronger. You can come up with all the excuses you like (salary cap etc.) but we have clearly gone backwards since then, and it's just not good enough.

As for Sheens, I'll wait till the end of this year to make a call, but he surely must be under some pressure right now. As Warren Ryan once said, he believes a coach has a shelf life of three to four years at one club, before both he and the players become stale, and perhaps a change is needed. We'll see.

Interesting stats.

You would think that after the premiership we would become a regular contender for atlease 3 years, well so far we've missed the 8 (injury ravaged, yes) and this year we'll probably scrape into the 8 on the back of a sub standard comp and an injury ravaged Broncos. Next year is a big one for Mr Sheens.

Clearly the Minister of Defence is not the solution however. Nor is Ronald McDonald.

Re: O'Hara, I honestly believe he can be the goods given game time, something he hasnt had since day one here, same as Galloway. But hey, they're not Utility backrowers or Fitzy.

Yes we have had injuries but so has every other side. The real failure in the team has been up front and in the replacing (or more succinctly the non replacement) of the departed S Prince. Sheens threw all his eggs in the J Morris basket and it has been a horrible failure, and one for which he should be called to account. Replacing a top notch organising half with a pedestrian utility with no ball skills and no tackling game is something for which Sheens has to be accountable. As for who was available/gettable: Wing, Monaghan, Finch, Lewis, Soward, Long there were a heap. He chose Morris and also chose to mould him into something he can never be. I am of faith, but I am not of blind faith.

Our defence is appalling as is our wrapping up of the ball. Royce has been here an age yet our defence is even worse now than when he arrived.

As for Ronald, the fact we have money for Fitz, O'Hara, junior burger and let a 2 time premiershio winning centre leave should have him under extreme pressure. Peter Lewis. J Lo etc. Our recruitment has been garbage and he must share a large portion of the blame along with Sheens.

The worst bit is we aren't signing anyone so next year it will be a case of `as you were'. Our only hope is the comp next year being even lower than this year

Don't you get tired of typing the same words, maninthehole? You've added absolutely nothing new here. What an absolute waste of a post...

Our man on the hill isnt speaking with forked tongue. Now like all of us with black and gold and now some black and white running through our blood we might get hot and bothered from time to time but its now time to step back from the wreck and be fair dinkum.
2005 is a distant memory, our team isnt in the hunt and never was. Tonight I just saw one Benny Roberts put on a display, the bloke with the no7 for the Bronks went okay, just like Chase and Lewis do most weeks. Yet these guys were not old enough good enough etc when at the tigers so they went to greener pastures. I wonder if the kids playing in our reggies will be the same in a few years--given no chance so go else where. Blind fredie will tell you we are a class front row maybe two and a class 1/2 from a quality side.
When you think Roberts could probably be playing 6 or 7 for half that of Morris you have to scratch your head, When are people going to pull their head out of the sand. Its now a joke not bad administration

Don't speak the truth. The head in the sand masses will retort with the 2005 defence - much like the insanity defence it's straw clutching when the know the case is feeble at best. I see there are some who thinks 2005 should ensure Shines a job for laugh and that if the unthinkable were to happen, then the Minister of Defence should become PM in a promotoion. Could you imagine it - the man's whose CV has `Wooden Spoon Penrith' and `Defensive coach Wests Tigers where the defence was consistently ranked among the worst in the NRL' is being annointed as the next coach. You could not make it up.

You sure about that?

As for CDF
I usually love your subtle rants, they provide a breath of fresh air in this dank website. Always so original and a different view of looking at things. However, this one stinks of boredom. Not arguing the point you made, people can see it either way, however the topic is all thats been discussed on this forum over the past 2-3 weeks, its time we all gave it a rest and see what Sheens can come up with over the next 3 rounds, not start another thread about it. To compare your post to football, like you often do, your post was Danny Galea. Another back rower bought to join the mountain of almost first grade quality back rowers battling away in premier league. The threads been done.

We get all the excuses from the masses, injuries being one of the top ones. Well look at the bronks last night, had half a side on the sideline and really put in and nearly pulled it off. I just dont see that same effort from our mob and thats what Shines gets paid to do--get them up on game day.

And just on recruitment, the word is pretty strong we are after Cameron Crapiolo from the sharks----you got it another back-rower and a middle of the road one at best--on the bright side he is not from Penrith

Hahahhaah. Perhaps we are trying to inflate the market for backrowers ensuring that teams have to pay overs to retain their half decent back rowers. This in turn leads to them having less to try and nab the likes of Benji. Perhaps we are being harsh and this is all part of a cunning Shines and Ronald Masterplan ...
