I'm guessing from 2018-2021 we'll have the regular tournaments such as

- European Championship 1,2 &3
- Pacific Cup
- Americas Cup

Plus Pacific Island and African teams will surely get visits from English & Australian teams.

The big if is just Australia, NZ & England from this report and what they're going to do in the inbetween years.

I suspect it will look like this

Y1 - NZ Tour of England
Y1 - Qualifying for Federations Cup
Y2 - Federations Cup 8N
Y3 - Australia Tour of England
Y3 - RLWC Qualifiers
Y4 - RLWC

Repeat

All played post season

In season schedule will depend of the success of SOO on a standalone rep weekend

England and New Zealand depend on international football.

This is a key point in my opinion; what are the odds both these nations have baulked at the thought of receiving no funds at the end of 2019 from internationals considering any Intercontinental Cup profits would go to the RLIF? I have no doubt the Aussies grubby hands are involved as well but I'd very surprised if the other two weren't involved in some capacity.

Disagree RLIF can consult and announce

If Australia doesn't want to compete in the Federations Cup it will actually make the tournament 100 times better
Yes the RLIF could organise something without Australia. It would be awesome for us hardcore fans of the game. But Australia is the biggest match up for both England and New Zealand and that's what draws the casual fans, media and the money.

i imagine the big 3 would be contractually obliged to play in a fed cup,if one of the big 3 want to take time off they do it on their own dime, miss out on a tour, not at the RLIF expense but crying off a major comp

Is whats going on with john grant, nrl clubs & RLPA the reason why the international schedule was'nt ratified at the RLIF congress?

Waste of a press release. And they say no news is good news?

All the excuses in the world without any actual real excuses lol, can't wait to see them pull out the old ..,.. We can't tour this year because of fears over Donald Trumps hair dressing disaster which could plow the world into nuclear meltdown seeing as the Russian number 7 said something something something about poor old Donnies cockie.

What a joke, hell a league hating troll couldn't f#%k up international nay rugby league this bad if it tried. And the blokes running it supposedly have a clue and a set plus love the game? Hate to see what they'd do if they thought league a waste of time and didn't like it.

The RLPA are wanting 2018 off apparently
Can't wrap my mind around this thinking of having a year off in 2018.

In 2018 there will most likely be plenty of spots up for grabs in this Australian side, so seems strange if this is from a players perspective.

i suppose i can give the basics without the finer detail, and its pretty detailed..

2021 world cup,2023 IC cup & 2025 world cup is for the RLIF to deal with..

every year before,2018,2019,2020, and the intervening years,2022,2024 is for the national bodies to deal with and the RLIF are waiting to hear back from them..

the only thing missing from whats actually going to happen compared to what we thought was going to happen is theres no IC cup in 2019,that disappointed me but he explained why..so hey ho

Ive got the greenlight

Dear Simon

The global event years had to be determined and awarded prior to nations completing their fixtures for 2018 - 2025 . With the venues for the 2021 and 2025 world cups being determined the Board also determined to put to tender an Intercontinental Cup in 2023. The nations met in Liverpool at Congress to then determine their fixtures in 2018-2020.

There were offers tabled for an Intercontinental Cup in 2022 rather than 2023 but the Board and nations decided that global events would be in 2021 and every two years thereafter .

RLIF has driven a much enhanced calendar and we made real progress in Liverpool. We are hoping that matches and tours through 2021 will be announced shortly once nations have completed their bi lateral match agreements.
