Have a listen to the commentators. They agree with me. Rogers is the only one who has got runs because more than any other Aussie batsman he has been playing it as late as possible. I'd like to see him do it even more often but he has done it more than the others.

I just read this on cricinfo, and agree with it completely. Rogers has played and missed alot, but he hasn't chased the ball, as the others have. He's followed the ball's initial trajectory, and left alot outside the off stump. Even if he is beaten by seam or swing, he is usually in a good enough position to be beaten comfortably without actually edging the ball. Smith has quite a good eye, but he is well known to chase the ball, which to his benefit, may help garner runs on most pitches around the world. Too bad England and particularly South Africa have certain pitches that absolutely do not allow that.

New to the forum guys. Love my cricket!

Anyway, this is Twatto's time. If he gets a fluent 20/30 and gets out LBW or in some other stupid manner, its just simply not good enough. I think he potentially is our second best batsmen, but his inability to convert starts and his absolute fu*king arrogance and selfishness in reviewing his dismissals is killing us. His bowling is a great bonus, yes, but to fulfill his undoubted potential, he really has to start converting his starts and pull in when the team needs him most.

welcome.

At the risk of sounding like Harry Hindsight, I would definitely have left Pattinson out for Bird. I have been impressed with more than any young Aussie bowler since I first saw him.

My gut feeling was that he would be very suited to English conditions.

I hear what you're saying, bird is impressive and is a classic stump to stump bowler.

However, and it's a big however.

Going into this series

Pattinson had 40 wickets @ 22 with a strike rate of 45.

You just can't leave someone with those stats out.

I'm fairly certain pattinson will come back in the team for the home summer.

He's deadly on Australian pitches.

The umpires call part of DRS is what's causing most of the problems. They should scrap that. Anything clipping the stumps on hawkeye should be not out, benefit of doubt to bstsman, regardless of umpires call. Same with an edge. No clear evidence of edge, not out. Forget umpires call. Would solve a lot of problems.

Totally agree, was saying as much last test.
