Cameron White would make a very good Vice Captain for the test team under Clarkey. If White can't continue to play well with the bat and turn himself into a decent Kumble type leggie he would be very handy at test level. He is still a Victorian though.

Would you rate him in the top 6 or 7 batsmen in Australia?

no, probably in the top dozen or so

if his current form continued for a year or so, he'll climb the pecking order

I'd have Hughes and Ferguson above well above him atm, then there is our forgotten opener, Phil Jaques who has done nothing wrong other than get injured.

There is at least a few more Twiz as well..

Hodge- yes I know he is not everyone's cup of tea but he has a test average of 57!

Rogers- On form should be ahead of White

Sean Marsh- Is probably ahead of White in terms of test level application.

Hughes- obvious

Jaques- yep

Ferguson- Yep

Watson- definately.

Who is Cameron White better than on that list..and that does not include the players in the current side like Katich, etc.

LOL Rogers is crap, Hodge is crap against good bowling, Jaques is not rated by selectors cos he can't field. Watson will no doubt get injured.Marsh averages 30 in first class cricket. Hughes is going to be a gun but needs time to be more confident in his technique IMO. I doubt White will get a game for a while yet but even so he is a very good batsman.

He is a decent batsman but nothing special.

My greatest fear, however, is that Ponting might throw him the ball one day.

Lets see, Rogers scored 1000 runs last summer...he is hardly "crap", and he is a much better batsman than White, as he applies himself and scores big hundreds, unlike White. You don't score test double hundreds if you are crap! Jaques is rated, he has been injured. As for Marsh well look at Michael Clarke..First class records don't tell the full story. Plus that record was worsened by last year him opening the batting in FC cricket- he is back where he should be this year. Injury or not Watson and Hughes are ahead of Cameron White..White was poor last season in FC cricket and a few scores against England's pie chuckers does not change this!

Well seeing as Cameron White wont be opening the batting then he isnt competing with half that list

Hodgey is out of favour and not going to get picked, pretty level with Ferguson and despite being bagged for an apparently terrible test debut series, still has a better test batting average than Watson

Oh and White did have a shocking year last season, only averaged 58

Ferguson would be slightly ahead of White due to his previous ODI series. White has only just clicked whereas Ferguson has been performing through out. If we are talking about our 1st Test of the summer then Watson is already in that side so take him off the list. Hodge is no hope, he can't even make our T20 squad where he is miles ahead of any of our batters. Rogers isn't liked by someone.
