Aust 2-1 up in the series

Drop Hughes and promote Sunshine at the top, bring Ferguson in

Wickets there you need to score decently from the get go, as they appear to be 300 plus wickets. Hughes needs the first 15 overs to settle in before he gets going, not good enough for mine. If Hughes bats another over or two in the last game we lose that game

2 down, 4 to go

I think HAH will be gone after last night although they tend to not tamper with winning sides

Australia are doing pretty well to be up 2-1 in the Indian flat beds.

They have the batting to match the Indians, the contest is between the bowlers and if they keep firing in the short pitched stuff they might pull off a few more wins.

7 matches is still ridiculous though, should have been 5.

Why don't we open with Haddin? Seriously he is wasted at 7. Haddin, Finch, Watson, Bailey, Maxwell, Ferguson, Faulkner...

Open with Big Show and Bailey. Bailey's role is simple, rotate the strike to The Show who plonks them over the fence. In 50 overs Bailey faces 50 balls and scores 50 singles leaving The Show to face 250 balls and score 1500 runs at a SR of 600.

I don't think even Dhoni or Kholi could chase that score down.

Some of you simple minded folks have no idea about cricket.

A team with 7 Big Shows in the top 7 would lose more games than it wins.

It is great have the guys with the big bag of tricks somewhere in the team to let loose with the fireworks. But you need real batsmen as well or you won't last the 50 overs.

Hughes has played a very important but underrated role in each game. We've got about 1000 runs in 3 games, we're not changing the batting order.

Kept India in the game? He had a S/R of 55 in a match we were chasing 300+ you plonker! Rubbish S/R! The best news for Australia was when he got out!

I've been thinking that for awhile. Haddin isn't really that "massive" hitter that is suited for overs 40-50. He can certainly hit over the top in the early overs when the field is up. Get rid of that selfish plodder Hughes. Move Haddin to the top, get an all rounder/hitter at 7.

Open with your keeper and you can have an extra bat or a bowler or another all rounder in the side. It really does improve the balance of the side. Ideally a guy like Steve Smith would be perfect to slot in somewhere, or even Henriques if we go for the bowling all rounder type.

Haddin will be 65 by the time of the next World Cup. You only open with your keeper if he's capable of opening, not because Australia used to do it with Gilly so therefore it's what you do. For mine Haddin gets out too often in the 20-50 range to be an opener.

Uh... nah too easy.

Back to real posting, Haddin might only contribute 20-50 runs but at least he'll get them quickly and alongside Finch Australia should get the quick starts they're looking for.

I don't have a problem with any batsman starting off slowly as long as he has the talent to even it up around about when he hits his 50. Even finishing up with a strike rate of 80+ is acceptable as a platform for the rest to kick off.

Hughes doesn't have said talent nor the consistency to make it work and for every 100 ball 80 there will be an 80 ball 40.

Then get a keeper that can, whether that be Nevill, etc. You keeper should bat in the top 4.

Dhoni is proof that keepers don't have to open. The reason why teams often open with their keepers is that they are naturally aggressive batsmen who go after ball 1 with Gilly and Kalu from SL the best examples. For mine Haddin is better suited down the order.

Dhoni is probably the only one in world cricket that does this successfully...and look at India's openers they both score over a S/R of 90! Phil Snooze scores at 70 odd! We need a better balance than having Hughes hog the strike for 15 overs.

There is no reason whatsoever for this.

Heck a quality keeper could bat at 8 if your team has the all rounders to cover it.

There is a good reason- allows your side to be more balanced, you get the choice to play an extra batsman/bowler or another all rounder. It is just more balanced. You need more bowling options not less, Hughes can't bowl, it reduces a bowling option. Henriques in the side in a ODI would add more value to Hughes for instance, so would Ben Cutting for instance as a bowling all rounder!
