His proven himself in PL though I would think. His only what 19/20? It is a big step up and I'd rather have a player who has talent and thinks his the shit then a player who has talent and doesn't back himself.

Give him some depth, time and work on his tackling and we have a talented player. I don't think 5/8 is right for him but the backrow should be the place for him in a few years.

Yea ....he's a lock standing at pivot. But at this stage he's a shite lock, so we have to put up with the hog standing at pivot.

Good call Hulka. He does back himself and that's ultimatley what produces champions. The deeper backline (if thats how Raper is going to play it) should suit him more also. Tackling is the main thing he has to work on. Kimmorley and Peachey should be the guys talking and play making, so all he has to do is run the pill like a second lock and tackle like a second rower. That would be nice.

I t would be good if he could develop a step too.
Also, be able to find a pass, like a Fitler flatty or a Johns cutty.
(I'd be happy enough if he could just work out which is his best side to pass)
Would also be good if he could find another 10 metres in pace.

On a positive note, he has bulked up.
I'm just unsure which excercises make your head bigger too?

I'd love to see Greg Bird go well. The reality of it so far is that he is an awful player. Maybe 2004 will be his year but, there ain't no room in the game played amongst the likes of the teams we have at the top, for players to "find their way" or be "given a chance".

The opposition are never in that frame of mind when they run at him or tackle him, so why then does he belong in first grade? So he can keep making the same mistakes? Stuart Raper might have to have a quiet word.

If not, then he will be responsible for many problems in this most important role.

top post sadshark, 11/10

I just dont think he belongs in first grade
He should be put in premier league to develop according to his potential and THEN given a shot at first grade

Right now he's too arrogant because he's been given too many undeserved opportunities

He clearly needs to be brought back down to earth in premier league

In the meantime, Hilder for 5/8

Uggh.

What are you going to say if Bird goes well this weekend SS. I'll certainly admit I was wrong if he doesn't meet his potential, but will you? I like the idea of Hilder at 5/8th too and have for some time. I guess the simple fact of the matter is that you and I aren't selectors or the coach so Bird is there. Let's atleast hope he does well. :)

Of course I'll admit I'm wrong
I want to be proven wrong, heinously, outrageously, humiliatingly wrong. I want him to play an outstanding game. I just dont see it happening for a while yet.

Rapes will have to live with his decision as will I with mine

Absolutely.

OK. We are on the same page, no worries. I was getting the feeling you were hoping he was run over or something.
