For discussion on the 5th and final ODI of the Chappell/Hadlee Series.

New Zealand only playing for pride and wanting to make it 3-2 which will look better for them than 4-1

In: Bailey and McKay

Out: Watson and Bollinger

It seems selectors want to rest Watson at every opportunity, I don't see this being any different.

meaningless game now - pretty poor performances by us, should not have lost a 5 match series in 4 games... 3-2 means nothing now

Assume Aust will rest Watson and probably Johnson - guess the only credit NZ can take is that the series was demanding enough that Aust didn't rest anyone until it was won

I'd sat rest Watson and Bollinger, Hopes to open with Haddin and Bailey to bat 7. Keep Johnson playing he is starting to hit his straps IMO

be interesting to see what they do - Johnson is certainly the sort of bowler that always troubles us...

Bollinger is not - he's not that quick, and is really a NZ type bowler - to be honest, I am a little shocked at how well he's done in Aust this summer (but I say again, the opposition was woeful, and his colleagues were bowling appallingly - sh*t even Hauritz took wickets) but moreso how Australian's have talked about him like he's the best he's Allan Davidson, when he looks more Mike Whitney to me

Bollinger bowled a better length in Australia IMO, I'd say he is wrecked it is his first full summer of cricket for Australia!

How about 9 wickets at 19 against Tendulkar, Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj, Dhoni and Rania in India? His pace has been way down this tour, he was in the mid to high 140s in Australia, you can also say the same for Watson whose dropped to the low 130s from the low 140s.

They tell me Marcus North was good last year too...

On the pace - your wickets are a bit quicker, and we've long been suspicious about your recording devices which seem to make everyone who bowls in AUst look like an express bowler

Ryan Harris and Mitchell Johnson clocked in the high 140s in Aus have also clocked in the high 140s over here. If they were suspect then all our bowlers would drop by 10km/h.

Johnson has often been over 150 in Aust, very seldom here... Tait and Nannes slower too - I think it's across the board, even Hopes registers quickly over there - might be the wickets too... dunno

But watching Bollinger on TV and live, he just doesn't look that quick to be honest - and as I said before, I don't get the rave reviews... he's done well against rubbish lineups this summer in Aust - and people are talking about him like he's Dennis Lillee - he looks nothing more than a decent medium fast bowler to me

Easier to say something like this as an armchair style statement. Bollinger runs through the crease with his action making his pace seem more than it is. Batsmen don't see a speed gun obviously and some pace bowlers feel quicker than others. Johnson gets extra bounce and that is his real weapon unlike other quicks like Lee who skid them through with a hint of swing.

People are actually comparing him to Merv Hughes and not Alan Davidson. I think that comparison is accurate as well.

Bollinger when he gets his length right is a handful, when he doesn't he is cannon fodder.

Dougie has seemed out of sorts since he's been in NZ, and he has bowled to short from what i have seen. Hopefully he gets it right for the test matches.

Johnson hardly ever goes past 150km/h, he was in the low 140s for most of the summer. And Nannes slower? He was bowling 153km/h in the T20s in NZ, his quickest in Aus was like 151km/h.

Hes not express quick but what you are seeing in NZ is definitely not his usual speed. There is no way Southee is quicker than him. Who has been calling him the next Lillee? Hes not going to be tested until the Ashes but hes doing all he can atm.

Aren't you the dude who said NZ wouldn't win a game?

How is Asad Rauf one of our umpires?

Two fails for Stewart. A bit of a shame really- a lot of pressure for a debutante to be in
