Who would have thought Thurstons foul-mouthed tirade at a referees would back to haunt him. Oh sorry he said he wants accountability when it suits him.

This.

We've seen one of the game's most exciting players and a genuine good guy have has career ended by an unforgivable refereeing mistake. I love rugby league more than anything but I can't defend a sport that allows this to happen.

Maybe if his team didn't have a shit year & scrape into the 8 after playing 6 sudden death matches in a row, things may have been different for him.

Cowboys were dudded but players retire in every team in sad / losing circumstances, more often than not. Bowen has nothing to do with it.

I blame beave, he predicted the pink would decide it.

My vodoo dolls are irrelevant.

Was a close game, no team stood out really.

Bounce of the ball, a dud call or so.

It is not like a standout winner was denied.

We play Manly next, lets talk next week.

Refereeing in general has been deplorable this year.

However, keeping the tackle count correct has been an issue a few times this season- I know for sure in one Broncos/Cowboys game the Cowboys were incorrectly given an extra tackle, possibly even in both games, and I've seen it in other games as well.

It's a pretty fundamental error, but the referees' ability to adjudicate on tackles is abysmal. Not only can they not decide on a "held" call until it passes some Schroedinger-esque point that results in arbitrary penalties being awarded, they can't even make sure that each passage of play gets the same six tackles that have been in the rules for decades.

At this point I have to wonder if replacing the referees with chimpanzees who do not understand the game would result in any discernible decrease in refereeing quality.

All the hysteria over this, ya think not only did they give us an extra tackle but they also tied the Cowboys hands behind their backs & put them in potato sacks so they couldn't get across in cover to stop the try.

f**k me. After that call when no doubt they were tipped off about it, they refused to give us any 50/50 calls & allowed the cowboys to hang in the tackle all night.

I know we got 1 extra tackle (which we took full advantage of - not our fault) but we had to work hard for the rest of the game.

Give us a bit of credit.

Refs are costing teams games more and more but nothing changes

There will be an inquiry - waste of time. It won't change anything, Cechin and Klien won't ref next week, that's it.

I wonder what next year's excuse will be... :p

NQ were good enough to hit the lead again. The 7th tackle was a farce, but in the end they had the chance to change the result at least. Last year they didn't lose by 6. They lost by 10.

I'm so sick to death of hearing bullshit like this, the point is we shouldn't have had to overcome the error in the first place as first grade referees should be able to f**king count!!! Why do we have to constantly overcome refereeing decisions to to win games of football? We were the better team tonight and the scoreline would've shown that if not for this f**kwit in pink. It makes no difference what minute it happens in, reffing f**k ups costing/gifting teams points and putting one team behind the eight ball shouldn't be something that's accepted as just part if the game.

It was the same last year, "oh but manly were the better team anyway" WHO f**kING CARES! They were given the game. Maybe the best team on the day doesn't always win, that's what's great about our code, anyone can pull anything out of the bag and produce a win.

But anyway, here we are again about to receive another apology from the referees boss and an assurance that this wont happen again blah blah blah... Heard it all before and it counts for shit in the end, doesn't fix the damage.

Matt Bowen deserved more than for that to be his farewell from the nrl.

Take that 7th tackle out of the game and the next 73 minutes are totally different. If the ref has called last when he should have, cronulla may have scored then, they may have forced a repeat set with a kick and scored or not. The cowboys may have intercepted, run the length and scored. Any possibility may have happened.

If the call was made in the final couple of minutes, then yes, you could say it directly caused a cowboy loss. I don't like my team to win in such circumstances but I like them to win and I understand why you are gutted.

Nice little rant.
Now you know how Sharks fans feel when we get dudded.
Which by the way happens ALOT more often than most other teams.
We get told time and time again it all balances out. What goes around comes around. Good teams overcome ref mistakes, etc.

While I still maintain the cows were unlucky they had plenty of time to overcome the ordinary call. It's a shame really cause I have a soft spot for the cows . If only it could have happened to the goons or manly it would be some seriously funny shit!

It has become clear and evident through the protestations of the masses that the Sharks should concede and gift their victory to the Cowboys.

Only then will natural order return to the world.
