8 Team World Cup

Very few places in Europe play League, so it makes sense to gather together to take on the 'Roos and the Kiwis. It makes sense, it's quite simple really. We over complicate things, and often don't do the common sense thing; as they say, "Common sense isn't very common".

It should be Team Europe taking on the 'Roos every 4 years in a 3 test series in Europe, and similarly taking on the Kiwis every 4 yrs in Europe. In fact Europe would never play outside Europe, as in the other year it would be a Club World Cup, and the other yr would be an off-year.

If you would take the DNA of people in Britain most would have heritage from places on the European mainland.

Basically nobody from Ireland and Scotland play League, and very few from Wales, how many Scottish accents in the Scotland side? None. In the Ireland side? None. In the Welsh side? 4 I think, which is far too few to be allowed into the WC.

A League WC is pointless, better to have a proper Kiwi and Kangaroo tour of Europe. Where they will play a few club matches, with certainly one against the Catalonia Dragons. And a 3 Test Series.

Do you know how many Americans were in the American team - not clear on the internet - to me anyway. I think to get attention to Americans international is important we are all very much into our local teams but still last year I went to an Eagles game versus Scotland last year and there were 20k or so there just because it was Team USA . The game was boring and really made me more an NRL fan and the group of about 30 ho went were all the same opinion. We only have so many Texans games here a year so there is some interest I think.

So what are your thoughts about a US RL team if not in a world cup? How would it grow? Or do we stick to the Eagles game very year here for Rugby?

1 person I think, T Welch. All the other players had non-American accents, Clint Newton has an Aussie accent but was born in the US as his father was a pro-golfer.

Play against Canada, Jamaica etc. but with 90% of the side with American accents, or who were born in the US. That's the starting point for the international side. Obviously build on the club scene, which seems to be going okay. And then if you think you have a fairly decent side, play against PNG or New Zealand and see what the score ends up as.

But I want a return of the Aussies playing a 3 match Test Series in Europe, haven't had one since 2003. And I want a Team Europe, not a Team GB, and in any case Ireland isn't in Britain. And I want to give French kids the inspiration of not just playing ruby league against Australia, but beating them too. And that is only going to happen as a Team Europe. And please, no anthems before kick-off.

Only 1 guy that's not good for PR, I wonder how many in the Union side I am guessing many are from here though I was told lots of South African and Polynesian guys too at the game.

That makes sense cost wise playing against people in your region.

We play our anthem before everything - even high school football :)

Stop ruining everything!
Did you go to the last WC? Big crowds, big viewibg figures, big profits and close scores.
Replicate it for 4 more cycles, put the profits into developing each nation and employing RLIF staff.
That's how you get an international game.

I'm not mate, I'm just facing the reality of the world as it is right now. I don't like the rules of the game, I don't want this free-market based capitalism that rules, I'm a socialist, and most are in RL I think; and we should wait for the rules of the game to change, and they will eventually, and this is when RL can grow to become a truly global sport.

RL more than any other sport needs a seeded finals structure

Pool One - Australia, NZ, England, Samoa

Pool Two - 5, 6, 7, 8

Pool 3 - 9, 12, 13, 16
Pool 4 - 10, 11, 14, 15

Pools 3 and 4 and start 1 week earlier

Pools 1 and 2 teams get ranked 1 to 8

Playoffs
Winner Pool 4 v 7th
Winner Pool 3 v 8th

Then adopt the following finals structure

Week 1 - 1v3, 2v4, 5v8, 6v7
Week 2 - 1 an 2 bye, 3v5, 4v6
Week 3 - 1v4, 2v3
Final

Hahahahahahaha! 8 weekends! Flip no, no.

Pointless, that's not a proper tournament, laughable. Return of 3-match Test Series please. Forget a "nations" WC, have a club WC instead as R Crowe has said.

And there are many different types of socialism, some may say that my views aren't socialist. Anyway, inter"national" 13's, if the US, South Africa and Canada can put together a good side with 90% brought up in their respective countries, fine have a WC then, but there aren't enough rugby league players around the world to have a RLWC; there's only just enough RU players for them to have a WC, as a RU guy said in 2011 during 4N, this is basically the RLWC, there was no answer to that, he was right.

We've got a fantastic league in the SH, now lets use that, as R Crowe has said and not inter"national" matches to spread the word of rugby league.
